day afternoon at the headquarters of (
the South Carolina Landowners As-'d
t sociation, in this city. The statement o
goes on to that a report has been ];
received from North Carolina that v

^crop, this year, has been done by the v
pest. This indicates that the boll wee- a
vil has, in one year, traveled clear
across the State and on farther North. ^
George R. Wheeler Manager of the '
Association, stated that a series of
meetings are being arranged in j
Georgetown, Florence, Marion, Dillon,
Bennettsvilie and Sumter. At;
' these meetings the farmers bankers'
' and business men will gather together
, and form committees to canvass the ](
j towns and counties for members for {
; the association. Following these meet- j a
( ings and the n ecessary organization j
work the same plan of operation will f(
be followed in those counties towards e
! the establishment of home markets g
for livestock and diversified farm C(

( fort, Colleton, Orangeburg and other p

| outlined a systematic working plan I ^
'for the taking of prompt action inja,
each county for what might be term- a
ed "Boll Weevil Relief" from a com- ^
mercial standpoint. Senator Christensen
has invited a group of men to
gather in Charleston at the Chamber
of Commerce at ten o'clock on the j B
morning of Nov. 6th., in order that1
further plans might be formulated
to bring the men of the back country
and the towns and cities together in g
cooperation in the establishment of t<
packing houses, grain elevators feed I
mills, potato houses and other enter
prises to establish home markets for (
food, feed and forage crops. , )

cooperation with the Chambers of
Commerce and other organized bodies
