Rev Mr Epperson, field agent for
Columbia Theological seminary, who
preached at the Presbyterian church
here Sunday night,will officiate there
next Sunday morning and evening at
the usual hours.
Mr J T Sexton's tobacco barn,
near Kingstree, was destroyed by
fire this week. It contained 7,000
tobacco sticks and 150 bushels of
corn. The fire started on tne msiae,
of unknown origin. j

While cranking his Ford car in
Kingstree Saturday, Mr G Ollie Epps
had the misfortune to break his
wrist.
Dr F H McLeod of Florence came
here Tuesday evening and operated
upon Mr Thos McCutchen, who was
greatly benefited and may be sitting
up in a day or two.

Mr F P Snowden, who has been
pending his vacation with relatives
at Cedar Swamp,will return to Cape
Charles, Va. the last of this week to
resume his duties in the railroad offices
there.
News was received in Kingstree
Tuesday of the death of Mr Thos H
McKoy at Orlando, Fla. He was a
cousin of Mrs Hugh McCutchen and,
when visiting her some time ago,
made a number of friends here.
The hour for the meeting of the
recently organized B Y P U has been
changed from Sunday evening to
Tuesdays at 7:30 p. m. At that time
on the 19th inst an interesting program
will be rendered. All invited.
Misses Bettie and Evie Guerry,
who have been spending some time
with their brother, Dr R D Guerry,
at Clyo, Ga, returned here this
morning on their way home at Zeb.
The young ladies were met by theii
brother, Mr S A Guerry.
A telegram was received here
Tuesday by Mr L D Odom announcing
the death at Bennettsville of Mr
Maurice Odom,a popular young business
man of that place. The deceased
was a nephew of Mr L E
Odom, whom he visited here last
summer.
A civil service examination to fill
the position of rural carrier at Nesmith
and for vacancies that may
occur later on other rural routes will

The midwinter number of the
Furman University Bulletin contains
the following item: "Dr W L Wallace.r.ow
in his 84th year at Kingstree,
S C, was a student at Furman
university in the years 1851-53. He
was an honor man in mathematics
and was the contemporary of J K
Mclver, R B Watson, W H Perry,
John F Morrall and others. He at
that time intended to enter the
ministry but has lived a great life
as a physician. He has served for
many years as the superintendent of
the Sunday-school of the Baptist
church at Kingstree and is held ir
high esteem throughout that section,"
