The December recital at Columbia
college was given Monday night.
Two young ladies from Williamsburg
appeared as pianists for the
first time, Misses Marie Flowers and
Thelma Hair. Their rendition was
highly commended.
Capt Robert J Kirk has returned
from Fort Oglethorpe, where he has
been instructor in the training camp
just closed. He is on furlough until
January 10, when he will leave for
El Paso,Tex, to train the 64th infantry.?Florence

The engagement of Mr Lawton
Gale Brown, formerly of Kingstree,
and Miss Margaret Jenkins of Trappe,
Md, is announced. They will be
married this month and make their
home at Easton.Md,where Mr Brown
is employed in the auto business.
The next meeting of the Kingstree
Demonstration Club will be
held Monday, December 10, at 3:30.
The subject for the evening will be
"Planning Three Meals a Day."
Each member is asked to bring a
written menu showing a well planned
meal.

here Sunday, at the Baptist church
in the morning and at the union
service in the Presbyterian church at
night. The pastoral committee of
the Baptist church have decided to
call Mr McDowell to this field, provided
such action is satisfactory to
the Cedar Swamp Baptists and the
State mission board.

McKaight-Covington Nuptials
Salters, Rt 1, December 3:?Miss
Mary A McKnight, second daughter
of Mr and Mrs R E McKnight, was
married to Mr Holland S Covington
at her parents' home yesterday afternoon
at 5 o'clock. The parlor was
beautifully decorated with the national
colors. After the ceremony a
bounteous wedding supper was
served. Numerous useful and beautiful
presents were received.

Saturday morning a lot of nice Tennessee
mules. Such sales have taken
place from time to time in near
by communities, but this will be the
first auction sale of this kind in
Kingstree for several years. The
mules are said to be young and in
every particular guaranteed as repsented
to purchasers.
Cotton Ginned to November 14.
There was ginned in Williamsburg
county prior to November 14 20,462
bales of cotton as compared with
9,218 to November 14, 1916.
