Monday, about noon.Mr W T Wilkins was stricken with an attack of vertigo while attending to his duties about town. He was temporarily cared for at the Kings* ree Drug Co's store and later taken home on a cot. This is the second time Mr Wilkins has suffered in this way, although the attack Monday a as not so severe as the previous one, and his friends will be glad to learn that he is able to get out again. Mr. Snell Speaks Here. Mr A V Snell, former secretary of chamber of commerce of Charleston, but who is now State organizer for the United States food conservation campaign for South Carolina, addressed the citizens of Williams1 burg county last Friday at noon in court house, on the subject of Liberty Loans and Food Conservation. - His address was full of enthusiasm, and he made his audience realize the necessity of subscribing to the liberty loans and of conserving such foods as wheat, meats, fats, and sugar. There is a great shortage of these foods in Europe, and it is necessary to substitute other things to 1 a certain extent for the above named articles so our country can export them to Europe to feed our ' allies. Before the address by Mr Snell a good many citizens of the ; county met inStoll.Stoll & O'Bryan's office for the purpose of putting on the food conservation campaign. Wt Very Short Term of Court The court of general sessions con; ven.ed here Monday with Judge Frank B Gary presiding, and Frank H McLeod. the newly appointed Solicitor, was present to look after the State's interest. Court Stenographer L E i Wood of Sumter was also at his desk. The docket for the term was one of the lightest on record for the fall j term and noted in the presentment of the grand jury as highly com-1 mendahle of the county. Judge Gary's charge to the grand jurors was characteristic of his learned ability. R K Wallace, Florence. Death Of Mrs. Gee. Mrs Katie Gee, wife of Mr 1 R , Gee, died unexpectedly at her home on East Main Street about noon,Saturday. On Friday mornjng, a fine i boy baby was born to Mrs Gee, and I her death came as a result of com! plications incident to the birth of i her child. ' i i i if . n Mrs Uee was a aaugmer 01 mr u i W Weeks,of Springfield, Aiken county, and taught at the Cedar Swamp i school prior to her marriage to Mr Gee, over a year ago. She was a lov| able young lady and had made piany friends in the community who will learn of her untimely death with deep regret. Funeral services were conducted at the home Saturday afnernoon by i Rev A E Riemer, and the remains taken to the old home for interment by the side of her mother. Miss Bettie Weeks, a sister, was with Mrs Gee when she died. The little baby is doing well in the care of a friend of the family. Alsbrook -Andrews. Miss Lillian Alsbrook was married in Darlingtan at 2 o'clock Tuesday j afternoon to Mr W E Andrews. The ceremony took place at the Park hotel and was performed by the Rev Mr Williams in the presence of a ! few intimate friends. The bride is the only daughter of Mrs M L Alsbrook and one of Kingsi tree's most popular and charming ! young ladies. Mr Andrews is a i young man of exemplary character I and holds a srood Dosition with the Southern Express Co, running between Florence and New York. After the ceremony Tuesday Mr and Mrs Andrews left Darlington for Richmond, Va, in their auto| mobile. Mr Clarence Alsbrook, brother of the bride and Miss Pearl Marcus of this place were present at the marriage. also Mrs J F Joyce of Detroit, Mich, who is a special friend of the bride. Pretty Show Windows. The show windows of the Kingstree Dry Goods Co are attracting the attention these days of those who have even a slight appreciation of things artistic. One of the windows is arranged with Styleplus clothing, while the other shows an artistically arranged lot of shoes. To the material enhancement of the whole scheme, some good lady, we believe it was Miss Nettie Epps, sent in a "sheaf" of large, beautiful white and yellow chrysanthemums, which immediately found a conspicuous place in the windows.
