Yesterday a welcome and profitable
rain fell in this community.

seven crates of beans were shipped
from here by express. This was the
largest amount ever known to have

Misses Emmalou Bryan and Lulu

spent the weekend with Misses Mattie

giving all of his friends here a
handshake.
Mrs Mattie Williams, of Rex N C,
is spending some time with her sister,
Miss Lula Johnson.
Miss Crawford, of Russellville, is
spending several days with her sister,

Important Court Decision,
In the case of A J Fowler, as administrator
of the estate of Mary E
j Miles, deceased, plaintiff-respondent, J
against New York Life Insurance!
J Company, defendant, appellant, the j
j supreme court of South Carolina has j
recently rendered a decision of great (
I importance to the holders of life in-;
surance policies. The contract in
question was contested by the insurer
on the ground of alleged fraudulent
misrepresentations by the insured as
to his use of alcoholic liquors in his
application for insurance. The case
was tried three times in the circuit
court, and resulted in a verdict for
the beneficiary of the insured, and
on an appeal by the Company the supreme
court affirmed the judgment
of the circuit court,and later dismissed
the petition of the Company for
a re-hearing. The insured was represented
by J D Gilland, Esq. of the
Florence bar, and the Company by
Messrs Thomas & Lumpkin, of the
Columbia bar,and Mr J H Mcintosh,
