Lesesne back at his post of duty in
the Bank of Kingstree, after severe
illness.
Dr and Mrs'A M Snider will leave
Kingstree June 6 for their annual
visit to Myrtle Beach, where they
will spend six weeks.
Last Sunday, Dr A M Snider

developed ripe peach from one of his

teen Kingstree ladies met in the
school auditorium Friday afternoon ,
and organized a chapter of the Woman's
Service league. The following
officers were elected: Chairman, Mrs
D C Scott; secretary, Mise Florence ,
Jacobs; treasurer, Mrs Ellen Roger;
finance committee. Mesdames Hugh !,

of lime is suggested, but better still j
for the prevention of fly breeding is!

Death of Mrs. S. W. Mcintosh. f
Mrs Lilly Mcintosh, wife of Mr S *
W Mcintosh,died at her home about j
5 miles northwest of Kingstree at 3 c
o'clock Monday afternoon. She had t
been critically ill for several weeks, c
and the advent of the death angel j
had been momentarily expected.
Mrs Mcintosh was born January ^
18,1859. and was married to Mr Mcintosh
in November, 1878. For a
number of years they lived in Kings- j
tree and conducted the Mcintosh
hotel,near the ACL station, moving
here from Workman. About the
first of 1916 they moved to Fair- ''
mount.N C, and continued the hotel *
business but eventually abandoned r
it and returned to Williamsburg to
to engage in farming.
Mrs Mcintosh in all the walks of a
life was a most estimable lady and o
enjoyed the regard of all. She is

Interesting Canning Demonstration. R
One of the most interesting and tj
pernaps me most important camnuK
demonstration was given here Tuesday
by Mr Franz Lund, Mrs Dora D ^
Walker and Miss Amanda Edwards,
that it has been the privilege of our o
people to witness. The demonstra- *
tion was, of course, under the aus- ?
peices of the farm and home demon- f
stration work departments of the S
State and federal governments and
its scope covered a wider field than ^
any similar exhibition ever held i
here, the work of Mr Lind and his C
capable assistants embracing as it did
the process of drying fruits and '
vegetables, and while the process of
canning covered a greater variety
of vegetables and fruits than ever
before, it also included fresh meats
and fish. Much interest was manifested
and the court house square presented
a scene of unusual activity
among the ladies of town during the
whole afternoon.

Evangelistic Meetings Concluded.
The series of evangelistic services
which began in the Presbyterian
church here May 2 ended last night,
and never has Kingstree enjoyed a
more blessed two weeks of spiritual
refreshment. At every service the
congregations were very large, at
times taxing the capacity of the auditorium.
The interest of the people
in the earnest and eloquent presentations
by Rev Dr J Ernest Thacker
of the glorious truths of the gospel
was unabated to the end, and a feeiing
of sadness pervades the community
that such a pleasure may no

No les3 interest was manifested in
the music, under the efficient leadership
of Mr Jas W Jelks. His large
:hoir has eagerly embraced the opportunity
for his invaluable instructions,
and his delightful voice held

The ladies of the community enjoyed
a rare treat Sunday afternoon
n Mrs Thacker's address upon "The
fluman Touch" at the Presbyterian

Dr Thacker and Mr Jelks left last
light, the former for Birmingham,
