SUCCESSFUL IN REVIVAL. Good Work Done by Former Resident of Kingstree. Sixty people varying in age from the child of 12 years to an aged'man of 67 summers joined the Great Falls Methodist church as part of the results of a meeting: in that church April 9-16 in which Rev J Boyce Mahaffey, pastor of Waverley Methodist church of Columbia.assisted the pastnr Rpv .T R Kilonre. Mr Mahaffev's able sermons attracted large congregations not only from the town of Great Falls but also from the surrounding country, the congregations assuming such proportions before the close of the revival that the place of meeting was moved to the spacious school auditorium. The proportion of young men and young women joining the church was encouraging. The interest and cooperation of the mill executives and leaders of the community added much to the success of the meeting. At the closing meeting a surprisingly large freewill offering was presented Mr Mahaffey, greatly to his astonishment. Recently Mr Mahaffey asked his concreeration for $105 for a church debt. They responded with about $300. Mr Mahaffey is a son of Rev J E Mahaffey, a former pastor of the Methodist church here. ?. . m "OLD GLORY" FLIES IN LONDON. Service Commemorating the Entrance of itbe United States into the War. A service unique in the annals of Great Britain was held in St Paul's cathedral, London, Friday, as a thanksgiving for the enlistment of the United States in the world war. This great church has a seating capacity of 4,000 and was packed to its capacity. The American flag and the union jack were carried in procession, and a large choir sang "The Battle Hymn of the Republic" and "The Star Spangled Banner." Appropriate prayers were offered, and the sermon was preached by Bishop C H Brent of the Philippines. The entire congregation except King George joined in singing "God Save the King." and the benediction was pronounced by the Archbishop of Canterbury. Many other cities and towns in the United Kingdom celebrated the event with a lavish display of American flags. Numerous kveterans of the civil war live in London, many of whom until that day had never seen their country's colors since leaving their native land. The Stars and Stripes now float from Westminster palace, the first time any but the British flag has ever been seen there. One of the Family. Mrs West was on a street car and one of the passengers met with an accident. The conductor took the names of the witnesses, but Mrs West, to avoid being summoned to court, gave a fictitious name and address. The next morning her colored cook ventured to remark that "dat man must a' been hurt mighty bad yesterday." "Oh. were you on the car, Miranda?" asked her mistress. "I didn't see you." "Yas'm.I was setting right behind you." "Weli, Miranda,I hope they didn't ?et your name, for I couldn't spare you to go to court." "Oh, no'm; I never give 'em my right name. They'll never find me." "What did you tell them?" asked Mrs West, wondering how far Miranda's imagination had led her. "Well'm, I heard you say, 'Mrs Hawker,' so I sez, 'Miss Hawker.' " ?Har/ter'a Magazine.
