TO THE SUNDAY-SCHOOLS. Open Letter from County President Geo. A. McElveen. It is very gratifying to note the unusual interest the Sunday-schools throughout our county have taken in the work of organization as it has been launched by the State Sundav-o/thnrtl QQcn/Mntirtn Eafh school has VVIIWI hwvvv*mw>vm? , .1 _ ^ responded to the call for co-opera?^ tion, and the various methods proposed for the betterment of the schools have been tried out with unheard of results. By your thorough co-operation and active work you have made it possible for us to reach the highest standard of Sundayschool efficiency. The slight possibility of not attaining this standard is left entirely with the schools. Many of them have fully complied, while there are a few remaining that have have not yet met each requirement. The standard we are trying to attain is the Gold Star. There are five essentials in making this possible, which are: First? An annual county convention. Second? One or more conventions in each district. Third?Every school represented in a district convention. Fourth?Every school to send in a statistical report. Fifth?Every school to make a contribution to the State work. Now, I want every school to read all these essentials one by one, and if there are any of these that you have not as yet complied with, do so at once, for the failure of any one school to fully meet these essential? will defeat our undertaking altogether. I don't believe that we have a school in our county which would be willing to have it said, "It was through your failure to meet these requirements that our county failec in this great work of Sunday-schoo efficiency." If you are short of meeting any ol the above requirements, it is most likely to be one of the last tw( named. Check up your work, and i] it be the sending in of the statistica report, do this at once. If it is thai you have not paid anything to th< support of the State work, by al means send this in without anothei week's delay, even if it isn't but 5( cents. Don't let us fail to reach th( standard we have been working for See to it that every essential is met and do it now. Just a word about the county con vention which will be held in th( First Baptist church ot Kingsire* Saturday and Sunday,April 7 and 8 This will be the "red letter" day ol our work. Weshall have with us th( State, president of the association Hon John D Cappleman, Saturday giving us two addresses, morning and afternoon. General Secretarj R D Webb and Miss Agnes Ravenel both of whom you well know, wil be with us both days. Sunday w< shall have Mr H A Wise, divisior superintendent of the secondary de partment, for two addresses on thai day, and we also expect to have Di DeMent, the ?tate vice president, with us thaj day. This conventior vou cannot afford to miss. See that youp'school has a fall representation and don't stay away because you feai 'you will not be entertained, for homes are being provided for each and every one attending, and Kingstree as a whole will open her doors to everyone, and none need stay away on this account. In conclusion, I want to say that I am depending on each Sundayschool to do its part, and I desire to thank you now not only for what you have done but for doing to the finish, for the glory and honor of this work is vour3.no matter what stand . ard our county attains.
