' Jr. Mrs John Jones and children of North Carolina are visiting relatives 1 and friends here. ^ Mr G C Parsons of Gourdins was in this section Tuesday. ^ Mrs Daryan Smith of Hardeeville j has returned home after visiting her parents here. 1 Misses Clara and Mayme Blakely spent last week-end at Oceda. 1 Mr S J Walters of Bryan was at i home Sunday. 1 Mrs J E Blakely,who has been for j some time learning the boilermaker's trade at Wiggins, returned to i his home near here two weeks ago, ] very much indisposed, but he is able 1 to be out again, I am glad to note. Mr R D Blakely, who has been very much indisposed for several I weeks, was able to visit the county ! seat Thursday. Washington, D C, September 18:? rhe United States Marine Corps recently opened recruiting stations in forty small cities from coast to! coast. This action was taken to! meet the demands made necessary j | by the recruitment of 5,000 addi- ] tional enlisted Marines just authorized. Recruiting activitiet of theses "soldiers of the sea" were formerly confined to large cities?this new procedure opens the door to virgin recruiting fields. This organization has always been recruited to full authorized strength and Marine Corps officials are confident of filling their increased ranks in one year.
