Those suspended were MessrB Biel, manager; Betsill and Gordon, pitchers, and Ehrman, catcher. The new additions to the team are Messrs Earl Cook, pitcher, and James of Summerton, who hslds down first base. The management of the team was placed in the hands of "Heinia" Hewell, the Red Sox short stop. The trouble came about over the playing of too many class C and D nsen ?that is, men who have played professional ball. The rules of the Pee Dee association allow only three such nsen to a team and it developed recently that the Red Sox were nlavinc more than that number. On account of this disregard of the rules sf the association about all of the games won by the Kingstree club were thrown out by the president and board of directors, thus placing the Red Ssx percentage at the wind up of the first half of the series at just a fraction above nothing. The "shake-up" took place last Friday while the team was away playing at Lamar, as at that time the local managers were informed of the action of the board of directors at Florence on the previous Thursday. At Lamar the Red Sox were defeated two out of three games. Monday a series of three games opened on the home grounds against Big Bens of Bennettsville, which re suited in favor of the latter, the Red Sox dropping the first game by a score of one to three. Tuesday it rained and yesterday adoubls header was played, said to be the prettiest games played on the home diamond during the season, the first game resulting in a score of one to nothing, the visitors making a run in the ninth inning. The second game, seven innings by agreement, stood one to nothing, the visitors scoring in the fifth inning. The Red Sox are playing at Florence today. An Attractive Plantation. Last week we had the pleasure of a trip to the farm ofMrF W Fairer about four miles southeast of Kingstree. We made the trip in his handsome new Hudson super-six and at times clipped off the distance at the rate of 55 miles per hour, and this without the least jar or jolt and the engine making no more noiae than a high-claaa sewing mathine. As to the big farm, one eat see at a glance that out of a wilderness a veritable garden of Eden has sprung. To accomplish this has taken brains, energy and money, the liberal ase of which is to some extent to be remunerated by the raatfields of corn, cottoa, tobacco, peanuts, relret l>eans and field peas, all rich in color and growth and free from graso and wefrds.
