Mr Pledger i{ I choir director at the McLendon revival and is an excellent singer. The children of the Episcopal Sunday-school enjoyed an egg hunt or the court house green Tuesday afternoon. Mr Mc, Kay left Salters only a few weeks ago. He had been in ill health for r some time. He was 77 years of age $ and was a gallant soldier in the civil ? war, since which time he has spent a most of his life at Lynchburg, Lake jj City, Cades and Salters. ' ? a At last! Thank heavens the big v old log that has been a hideous look- n ing object as well as a colossal ob- t struction on the sidewalks at the corner of Kelley street and^Live Oak | avenue has at last been rertioved. It g was so large and unwieldy that it f had to be sawed into three pieces f before it could be moved by the s, town force. As we note the improv- e ; ed appearance at the corner where j this old log or stump has lain for so ^ long, we are forced to wonder why it j was not removed years ago. The McLendon meeting continues to attract large crowds of interested n people daily from all sections of j. the fiounty. As the meeting grows j older the evangelist increases and a p great and good work is being ac- t complished. This week special morn- t ing prayer services are being held ^ by the ladies, alternately at the dif- a 1 ferent churches and by the men at ^ i the warehouse; in the afternoon j i similar services are held by the e young ladies and young men of the ^ town while Mr McLendon will continue to hold afternoon and evening y services throughout this week and n Sunday, when, it is understood, the meeting will come to a close. From Kingstree Mr McLendon and his , staff of co-workers will go to Flor- c ence, where they will open a four r weeks meeting on Sunday, May 7. * J Early Closing. In several nstances resolutions were passed by :he clubs endorsing Woodrow Wilson's administration. Reports from a majority of the :lubs were not received in time for Hublication. The Kingstree Democratic club net at the court house Saturday af.ernoon and organized for the comng campaign. A comnittee on registration was elected, lamely: J D Britton.A M Gordon, B 3 Clarkson.
