There were jai present about forty members of the 0 f association, these representing al- *1 most every section of the county with the exception of Johnsonville. S The reports of the president and a secretary were read and showed that e< the recent fair had been a success I * from every standpoint. Financially c< it greatly exceeded the expectations b of those in charge of the project. ^ The treasurer's report showed that *r ^ the sum of $2,220.00 had been taken ri in at the fair as gate receipts and from lj concessions, from which amount, af- P ter paying all expenses, there was a balance of something over $300.00. | L It was decided by many of those 81 who had exhibits at the fair upon it which premiums were awarded to !S( return the amounts to the associa-1 ? tion in order to help the association w in promoting a bigger and better F fair next year. It was decided to c< issue a premium catalogue for the s< 1916 fair as early as possible so that C1 exhibitors may know what to prepare for. Several changes were recommended to be made in the y constitution and by-laws of the association which will be embodied in | the coming catalogue for next year. A vote of thanks was extended by the association to President Ne- w smith, Secretary McElveen, Stenog- jr rapher Miss Maude Baker and Mr S Paul Harper for the excellent services rendered in connection with the jt [ exhibition. BAXLEY'S GUN ACCIDENTALLY DISCH ARGED-LO AD CAUSES INSTANT DEATH. Rhems, November 2:?Mr C 0 Raxley, a prosperous farmer of the Choppee section.met with a fatal accident Monday morning about nine o'clock, at Mr W H Baxley's house, near the store of Baxley Bros. Mr Baxley had just returned from his traps on Mingo creek and was showing his fine catch of opossums and 'coons to some carpenters that were working on the house. He had one foot on a board, with his gun standing upright on the board beside him. While he was talking to the carpenters the gun slipped off the board, more than forty years. uotamaDie 'everywhere. striking the hammer, which caused the gun to go off. The charge entered his throat, almost severing his neck and causing instant death. The untimely death of Mr Baxley in this manner has shocked and saddened the entire community. He was about 40 years old and an estimable citizen. A devoted wife, six small children and a host of relatives and friends are left to mourn his irreparable loss. C. I NEWS FROM EARLES. Death of J A Terry?CItlzens Attend Union Meeting?Personal. Earles, November 2:?Mr J A Terry, of this section, died at his home here Friday morning: after a long illness. Several days ago Mr Terry was taken to a Charleston infirmary for an operation. The doctors there pronounced his suffering due to cancer of the intestines. Mr Terry was brought to his home here Thursday night and lived until about 4 o'clock Friday morning. He was about 59 years of age and is survived his wife, four sons and three ? daughters. Mr Terry was popular in the community and besides his ? immediate relatives he leaves a host _ of friends to mourn his demise.
