It is now up to everyone in Williams,J^i?<county receiving this paper to cast his or her vote for Miss Harper for queen of the Harvest festival at the State fair. Mayor Hyde Nominated. Returns from the municipal primary held in Charleston Tuesday indicate that Mayor T T Hyde has been nominated for Mayor of that city over the present incumbent, Jno P Grace. As the result now stands, Hyde's majority is 109 with cne box in ward 10 under protest which, it is claimed, gives Grace 84. If this protest does not prevail Hyde will still have a majority of 25. Rhems, October 12:?A touch of winter's icy fibers came unexpectedly after a warm September, and consequently "shivering" seems to be very much in order. Mrs A O Holiday, who has been seriously ill for some days, is reported to be improving, we are glad to note. Mrs P C McClary, of Rural Hall section, visited at the home of her parents, Mr and Mrs J M Godwin, the latter part of the week, M r G E Grier spent Sunday at Conway. Mr and Mrs Laurice F Rhem and children, Mrs F Rhem and Miss Emmie Brockinton visited the "City by the Sea" a few days last week to have Mr Rhem's little daughter treated by a specialist for an illness from which the little one was suffering. We are glad to say that its suffering has been allayed, to some extent, and hope for it a speedy recovery. Mr and Mrs Oscar Outlaw spent the week-end with the latter's parents, Mr and Mrs C A Baxley, at Outland. A dog, supposed to have had an attack of hydrophobia, was killed (here Sunday afternoon, after biting several other dogs, a horse and chasing some boys up trees to avoid Jiis attack. The farmers of this section who planted wheat last fall are very "much enthused over their returns and it is very likely that the acreage will be very much larger next ISeasoD, Messrs F Rhem & Sons, who are owers and operatiors of a modern flour mill, have ground something over 400 barrels this year. Flour is much cheaper to make at home, as its cultivation is simple and easy, and it is hoped that the farmers will wake up to reason and add "biscuits" to the "hog and hominy" products next year. King Cotton is coming into the r % limelight again and taking his plae in the front row. The yield is no more than 50 per cent in this sec tion over last year's crop, but thi price is much better. Messrs 1 Rhem & Sons are paying 12 cent l today for good middling. The corn and hay crop in this vi cinity is unusually good. Most o the farmers have made an average of about 45 bushels per acre.
