THEATER I ' New York Banker Finds Prosperity In South. Vice President Beverly R Harris of the National City Bank of New York, the biggest bank in the United States, who has just completed a trip coyering the South and Southwest, gives in the Manufacturers' Record of a recent date a very comprehensive review of the business outlook in these parts as he saw it. Mr Harris says: "The South and Southwest in my opinion, are getting on a sounder credit footing than ever before, and my feeling is that these sections are about to enter the best and most prosperous epoch in their history. I look for a.' great advancement in population, wealth and the average conditions of life within ihe next decade. One of the important factors in this will be a greater abundance of money and cheaper average interest rates. This territory produces real wealth?the consumable commodities which the world must have?and, with better methods in the future, is bound to become very rich and populous. Conditions, in my opinion, are now distinctly on the upgrade, and the outlook never more consistent for a return to real, genuine prosperity on a rock bottom basis. "Nothing is needed, however, but better credit methods and more thrift?as the experiences of the last twelve months have proven?to rapidly overcome the extravagance prior to that time and to get on a safe W. Looking to the future, the country has undoubtedly profited tremendously by the experiences of the last year and the lesson taught by them." Revival Closes. Scr.mton. October 5:?The revival services at the Methodist church here closed Sunday night. Rev J 0 Burnette of Jordan did the preaching and great int&rest was manifested, and, we believe, much good accomplished. Rev Mr Burnette handles his subjects with a great deal of thought and care. He preaches with a force j and earnestness that holds his au| dience spell-bound. His sermons ! on the doctrines of the church were very instructive and impressive. At many of the services penitents crowded around the altar seeking salvation and a number of additions were made to the church membership as a result of the meetings. Those who heard Mr Burnett's ser: mon on the second coming of Christ I say it was the best of the week, and | was the subject of much favorable j comment.
