One of the most interesting sights be seen on a farm hereabouts is at on the farms of Mr Frank M >gers,Sr,in Back Swamp cownship, lere at this time be has begun the rvesting of his large peanut crop, r Rogers planted this year 300 res of Spanish and Virginia peats, which was nothing more than experiment, for nothing like this eat acreage has ever before been inted in South Carolina. It is said at the next largest acreage plantby any one farmer in this State is ar Bishopville, where some 75 or 0 acres are planted. Mr Rogers began about ten days o gathering this new crop, that is, this section, and one who has never sn the peanut crop grown or harsted would be amazed were he to ss along the highway and view the suit. Hundreds of hands, negro ?n, women and children, are emDyed in plowing, lifting the vines th their tubers, stacking and cur? them, making ready for picking d separating. The vines with their tubers are icked in the fields on poles which I ve been erected with an arrange-j ?nt at. the bottom a foot from the | ounu for ventilation. These poles' e placed about fifty yards apart d in rows the length of the field. iere are several thousand poles or icks, which resemble hay stacks, Iy they are not so high or so Iky, and it certainly is interesting pass along and take a view of ?se farms. Mr Rogers will net anywhere from to 120 bushels of peanuts to the re, and it is stated that he will be le to dispose of his entire crop at c to $1 the bushel. It will be remembered that Mr tgers was the pioneer tobacco inter in this State, which crop is e outcome of the News and Courts efforts some twenty odd years o and which has proved to be a eat big crop in South Carolina. Mr Rogers planted no cotton on > plantations this year, and by his t doing so he will no doubt be to m* ich benefited.?Florence i un-es. Facts For Sufferers. Pain results from injury or constion. Mixture of Cottonseed Meal and Grain Produces Winter Eggs. Clemson College, October 4:?It is more than a year since the Clemson Egg Mash was given to South Carolina farmers by the poultry husbandman of Clemson College. In that time it has increased steadily in popularity and those who have used it haye reported the most satisfactory results. With the annrnaoh of winter, farmers are reminded that it requires plenty of good feed to make hens lay in cold weather. It is believed that they can find nothing better for this purpose than the Clemson Egg Mash and the formula for the mash is again brought to their attention: Cottonseed meal 100 pounds. Cornmeal 50 pounds. Ground oats 50 pounds. Wheat bran 50 pounds. Wheat short 50 pounds. Ground lime rock (fertilizer lime) 16 pounds. Ground charcoal 12 pounds. Salt 2 pounds. Keep this mash in the poultry house before the hens all the time. Use a covered box with slats around it, or a hopper, so the hens cannot soil or waste the mash. Do not mix it with water and fped only once a day, as in that case the hens would overfeed and then stand about and get chilled. When the mash is . fed dry the hens consume it gradually as nature intended. The ground lime rock is fertilizer lime, not the burnt lime used in whitewashing. The ground charcoal may be left out if it cannot be readily obtained, but always add the salt. MAYOR FACES CHARGES. Columbia Citizens Would Have Griffith Brought to Trial. HAS DARLINGTON FOUND THE SAME? I Itie Answer Is Found in tbe Straightforward Statement of a Darlington Resident. We have been reading week after week in the local press of Kingstree citizens who have been rid of distressing kidney and bladder troubles by Doan's Kidnev Pills, and we have often wondered whether the same high opinion of this medicine is to be found in our neighboring towns. This frank and earnest statement by a well known and respected resident of Darlington will set this doubc at rest. H L Brown, grocer, Broad and Washington Sts, Darlington, S C, says: "I had dull pains through the small of my back and couldn't lest well. Mornings I was sore and lame and I often had dizzy spells. The kidney secretions passed irregularly and the least cold I caught settled on my kidneys, making me suffer worse. Doan's Kidney Pills relieved all the ailments." Price 50c, at all dealers. Don't simply ask for a kidney remedy?get Doan's Kidney Pills?the same that Mr Brown had. Foster-Milburn
