News Letter from Vox. Vox, September 20:?After several Kay months of picnics and swimming parties, we are ready to get to work; so I shall report the recent happenings in our community. Is is grape season and harvest time and our people are standing up straight in spite of prohibition and war clouds. Mrs R D Cox entertained a few of her friends Saturday night last in honor of her brother, Mr Allen L Deitz of Conway, who has been visiting at his sister's home during the past week. Some very interesting games of rooke were indulged in, after which delightful refreshments were served. Misses Nina and Janie Cox, stu dents of Johnsonville High school, have returned from an extended and very much enjoyed trip to Lake City and other nearby towns. On their return they had as their guests for a few days, Miss Vernie and Mr Clifford Graham and their aunt, Miss Mollie Cox, charming young people of Lake City. It is leaving time for our teachers, some of whom have been forgetting life's labors while at summer resorts during the warm summer vacation time, but are now taking up their work with renewed zest and more healthy bodies: Misses Eccie and Eleanor Cox and Pauline Stone were among the sight seers and pleasure seekers for two weeks at Black Mountain, visiting Lake Taxaway, Hendersonville, Asheville and other resorts. Miss Eccie Cox has returned to Little River to resume her work as principal of Little River High school. Miss Pauline Stone will leave shortly for High Hill, where she will be employed to instruct the younger mps and genuises of that section for the ensuing year. Miss Eulice Cox will begin work as assistant teacher in the Midway school soon. Our obliging rural carrier, Mr C B Cox, and family have returned to their residence in the country, after a year,s pleasant stay in town of Hemingway. Mrs Julia Basemore and little daughter have returned to their home in Georgetown, after an extended visit to Mr and Mrs L A Taylor. Mrs L A Taylor has just returned from a few days stay with her father and brother at Columbia. Miss Lorena Lawrence spent a very pleasant week with Miss Eulice Cox recently. N C.
