Its officers and directors are men of brains, integrity and all around business efficiency, embracing lawyers, doctors, civil engineers, farmers and merchants. The men who have the direct handling of its patrons' money are courteous, polite and efficient bankers. The Bank of Williamsburg, a more recently established institution, can boast of a remarkable progress, as is reflected by its last ?ucuci vaiuco iui j than any other st( | community. Fifteen years ago there was not a bank in Williamsburg county and our citizens were obliged to transact their banking business through Charleston hanks or other outside financial institutions. What better evidence of the county's progress along commercial lines could be adduced than the establishment and growth of the seven banks now doing a successful business within her borders? Klrifjstrec's Hardware Stores. Our town charter does not provide for a King, or potentate, but Kingstree is rather blessed with the former, for we have King the horseman. King the bottler and King the hardware man, hut this is Mr K E King of whom we would speak now. He is head of the King Hardware Company and he knows the hardware business from tacks to traction engines. Prior to the establishment of the King Hardware for the Celeb / rybody staple- Nf* and to the gijpi e give you [ our money HBB ire in this ee, Company, Mr king was actively connected with the Williamsburg Hardware Company, of which firm he is still one of the directors. Mr Sam McOill, also formerly connected with the Williamsburg Hardware Company, is a member of the King Hardware Company and is noted for his genial ami engaging personality. The Kingstree Hardware Com pany, probably one of tlie largest establishments of its kind in this section, is too well known for us to attempt to add to its significance. It has its King, however, Mr .1 W King of Scranton is its president, hut the men actively behind the gun here are Messrs \V II Oarr and ___ rybo C C Burgess. The}7, with Mr J B j Alsbrook, a former clerk, are the men who have made the business one of far reaching importance. They handle everything in the hardware line and will take your order for anything from a machine needle to a suspension bridge. The Williamsburg HardwareCompany, a more recent organization, is another of Kingstree's popular hardware stores where all kinds of hardware, stoves, ranges, sporting goods, fencing, farming implements, etc, are supplied to customers throughout the length and breadth of Williamsburg county, not to speak of the extensive mail order business 4 the firm hnilf nn hv its nronint f v"v v "r v - x L' - ^ attention to orders and the satisfac- j tion given by its goods.
