Death ol a Young Lady.
Bethel, August 5:?Miss NaDnie,
the 15-year-old daughter of Mr and
Mrs R C McElveen, died this morning
at 2:30 o'clock, after an illness
of some months. It was thought
when she was first taken sick that
her illness was not of a serious nature,
and, although eyery attention
possible was given her, she seemed
to grow gradually worse until death
came this morning, her sweet spirit
passing to its Creator almost without
the knowledge of the loved ones
attending her.
"Nan," as she was known by all
her friends, was just blooming into
womanhood; she was a sweet girl,
and lived an exemplary Christian
life. Her death will be widely
mourned.
The funeral services will take
place this afternoon at 4 o'clock at
the old McElveen home in the Bethel
section. The services will be conducted
by her pastor, Rev D M
Clark, and interment will be made
at the McElveen burying ground,
near Bethel Presbyterian church.

KIngstree vs. Lamar.
The series of baseball games played
between Kingstree and Lamar
came to an end yesterday afternoon.
Out of the series Kingstree won two
games.
Monday the scorescood 9 to O.and
though these figures indicate a onesided
game, it was an interesting
contest.
The second game, played Tuesday
afternoon,resulted in a score of 4 to
3 in favor of the visitors. Considerable
wrangling was done by O'Neil,
Lamar's pitcher, and for a time it
looked as if the game would stop.
O'Neil disputed a decision at second
base and he, with several others of
- lo.il 1* J
the Lamar team, leit me aiamona,
carrying the ball. Time had not been
called and Lanham on second and
Jimmie O'Neil on first ran home,
making 5 runs for the home team,
but these last two were not counted
when^the game was resumed. Mr
Williams,who was disihterested, is a
good umpire and there was no real
ground for a kick at any of his decisions.
In the 7th O'Neil was taken
out of the box and Flowers finished
the game. Ephie Holmes, Kingstree's
former catcher,!was with the
Lamar team and did his usual good j
work behind the bat.
Kingstree won the deciding game
of the series yesterday by defeating
the visitors 5 to 8 in a snappy exhibition.
Buck Flowers,the well-known
professional pitcher and star of the
Lamar team, was on the mound for
his nine, and while Flowers pitched

k Card To The Public.
This is to inform my friends and
the public that I have sold part of
my interest in the Nelson Wirehouse
to Messrs E C Burgess and
Geo A McElveen. Owing to the
larger territory assigned me this season
by my cotton seed people, I find
it impossible to devote my entire
time to the warehouse business, and
after careful consideration decided
to dispose of a portion of my interest
in the same.
I wish to assure my friends and
customers that the two gentlemen
to whom I have sold part of my interest
will show you and serve you
courteously at all times, and 1 ask
that you continue to stand by Nelson's
Warehouse in the future as
you have heretofore. I expect to
be in and out of town during the
RpAson. and when here you will find
me at the warehouse in my usual
capacity. Very sincerely,
Kingstree, S C, D J Epps.

Despondency Due to Indigestion.
"About three month ago when I
was suffering from indigestion which
caused headache and dizzy spells and
made me feel tired and despondent,
I began taking Chamberlain's Tablets,"
writes Mrs Geo Hon, Macedon,
N Y. "This medicine proved to be
the very thing I needed, as one day's
treatment relieved me greatly. I
used two bottles of Chamberlain's
Tablets and they rid me of this
trouble." Obtainable everywhere.
