Mr L J Stackley, who recently underwent an operation for appendicitis at a Florence infirmary, joined his family here Thursday evening. Rev W A Fairy,for four years the beloved pastor of Kingstree Methodist church.is undergoing treatment at a Charleston infirmary. All hope for his early recovery. Miss Neva Harper, who has been teaching at Rocky Mount, N C, and Miss Mamie Harper of Timmonsville are at home here with their mother, Mrs Edwin Harper. Mrs C D Jacobs and he? two chil- = dren, accompanied by Mrs Jacobs'! sister, Miss Carrie Wilkins, who had ! been her guest here for several j weeks, left this week for Gaffney, Mrs Jacobs' former home. Mr C W Boswell, the popular and efficient assistant cashier of the Bank of Williamsburg, visited his old home at Silver,in Clarendon couni ty, Sunday. Returning to his home at Salters, he was accompanied by his mother, Mrs W H Boswell. Court of general sessions convenes ' here next Monday with Judge Maulf din presiding. The docket, it is expected, will be an unusually large one. There are seventeen prisoners now in the county jail awaiting trial or the action of the grand jury. It was sent in by Mr H J Barfield at Lanes and was plucked from'his sixteen-acre on June 16, which he says is "certainly! fine in spite of the cold and wet j weather," | 1 I The revival services at the Methodist church, being conducted by Rev A M Brunson of Columbia, are attracting considerable attention. Mr Brunson is said to be a very able speaker. Special music is a feature of the services, which, on the whole, are very entertaining and enjoyable. I We are requested to announce thai the third quarterly conference foi the Salters circuit will meet with the Methodist church at Taft next Tues day. A full attendance of the off! j cials is desired. There will also be preaching at the school house at Bet ser's X Roads Wednesday night,June 23, at 8 o'clock. Public invited. The Chero-Cola bottling works, located on West Mill street, is now in operation, running daily, bottligs chero-cola, ginger ale and soda water. The plant is well equipped with the latest and best machinery made for the purpose, and is supplied with a gasoline engine. Each piece, from the bottle-washing device to the capping machine, does its work with almost human ingenuity. The Kingstree Baseball association will probably commence practicing on the local field early next week. The players who have been engaged hv thp officers of the association are *" 7 ? expected to arrive here Monday. The first series of games to be flayed with outsiders is scheduled tc take place Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday,'June 28, 29 and 30, between the home team and Darlington. The South Carolina Grand Chap ter of the Eastern Star is now ic annual session at Charleston. Delegates from Kingstree Chapter are Mrs B E Clarkson and Mr Paul Harper. Mr B E Clarkson and Miss Eunice Harper are also in attendance as officers of the grand chapter. Mr and Mrs D E Silverman are present as guests, Mr Silverman having been invited to assist in the musical programme arranged foi the meeting. McConnell-McCrea. The home of the bride's sister, Mrs Robt Burgess, on west Mil! street was the scene of a pretty marriage ceremony at 8:30 o'clock Tuesday evenrng when Miss Alice Mispah McConnell and Mr Charles Ar-thur McCrea were united in the holy bonds of wedlock in the presence of a few intimate friends and relatives. The bride is one of Kingstree's charming and most popular young ladies, having been employed here for a number of years as a saleslady by Mrs S Marcus. The groom is a deservedly popular young man, a grandson of Mrs C M Chandler, and a telegraph operator in the employ of the A C L company at Lake City, where the happy couple will be at home after June 25, The bride was becomingly gowned in a traveling suit of Copenhager blue with hat and gloves to match and never appeared more charming to her intimate friends. Immediately after the ceremony, performed by Rev P S McChesney. the couple boarded train No 89 for the South, where they will spend a short honeymoon before returning to Lake City. At the depot the popularity of the young couple was attested by the large number of friends who gathered to see them off and wish them God speed. Those present at the marriage were: Mrs C M Chandler, Lake City; Miss Nettie Burgess, Mouzons; Miss Mellie and Mr Durant McConnell, sister and brother of the bride, Taft; Misses Mary and Ruth Nettles, Mrs J D Britton and Mr W W Holliday, Kingstree. The Record heartily joins the many friends of this young couple in extending congratulations and wishing them a long life of happiness. Death of Mrs W. S. Boyd. Mrs William S Boyd, beloved wife of Dr William S Boyd, died suddenly at the home of her husband, near Salters Depot, at 2 o'clock Saturday afternoon. Apoplexy is thought to have been the cause, though the deceased had not been feeling well for several days, but wag able to attend to her routine household duties. The deceased, who had been married to Dr Boyd about twelve years, was a daughter of Mr and Mrs A " ^ I Mfkn Uvans, or urangeuurg wum;, wn^ have recently made their home with Dr and Mrs Boyd. She was about 37 years of age and leaves two small children. She was well known in the community for her kindly disposition and noble Christian character, which endeared her to all who knew her. Besides her children, Mrs Boyd is survived by her husband, her parents and two sisters, Mesdames Robert Waring of Columbia and Zeida Stepheson of Norfolk, Va. Funeral services took place a( Richmond Presbyterian church, Greelyville, Sunday afternoon at o'clock,conducted by Rev Mr Brown, her pastor,assisted by Rev H D Bull of the Episcopal church, Kingstree Interment was made in the Richmond church cemetery in the pres ence of the largest gathering evei <K>pn thpro. The occasion was a most enjoyable one to all present, especially to the parents whose children had made such marked advances during the three months term under the direction of their efficient teacher, Miss Aggie Boyd.
