* - t BOYD SCHOOL. The closing exercises of the Boyd school which took place Klfcy 21 at 8:30 p. m., were most interesting and entertaining. The porch of the school house, tastefully decorated, served as a stage, and the numerous visitor^ were very comfortably seated cut of doors. The numerous Japanese lanterns, along witn me soft light of the m^on, made it a scene of enchantment. Under the management of Miss Minnie McFaddin, the teacher, the whole affair was carried out in a most capable, manner. Visitors from Kingstree, Greelyville, Heinemann, Laqes and the surrounding country were present, and all were charmed with the exeicises. PROGRAMME. 1. "My Faith Looks up to Thee"? Washington, May 28:?Cotton has b 'en officially declared superior to wool as a material for Hags and dec- . orative bunting. ,. ! | This announcement has just been [j j made by the treasury department j ! j after exhaustive tests, and the tact J is sure to have an important influence upon the requisitions of the various departments of ihe Government for supplies for the next fiscal year, beginning July 1, 191r>. It is left within the discretion of officials to order either?material, but as cotton has been so authoritatively pronounced better and is undeniably cheaper, one may egffiy guess what the average official ^ill do in the face of urgent suggestions from his superiors that every feasible July 1 will see the U S R F D expended to more than a million farms not at present receiving (he service. This, it is claimed, will be done, without additional cost to the ; public, by the readjustments of routes so as to avoid duplications and unnecessary service and by the installation of motor service upon many routes. As the good roads movement bears fruit in the shape of passable highways the year around, more and more routes will be added until practically every farm in the United States will be on a rural free j delivery route. This, with parcel j post facilities for the market of \ farm produce, will m'eaif millions of { | dollars to the American farmer. HAS DARLINGTON FOUND THE SAME?
