of the inclement weather it
was postponed until Tuesday evening.
A large crowd attended and il

feature. The characters were: Bessie
Huggins, Christine Newell, Sue
Stanley, Marie Flowers, Davis Newell,
Emerson Ard, Fairey Ard, Kirkland
Cockfield, Whilden Cockfield,
Clarence Davis and "Fido."
Miss Willie Elam, from Virginia,
gave a very interesting humorous
reading, which was equally as good
as the play. Music was furnished
by a concealed player and a Victrola,
Refreshments were served afterwards.
The school oratorical contest was
held Friday afternoon, April 9.
There were a number of contestants,
all of whom did well. Miss Clarice
Huggins and Mr Davis Newell came
out first and will represent us at

contest. Our best wishes go with
them. The school body seems to be
looking forward to Field day with
much interest as well as pleasure.
The literary society is still doing
good work. The regular meeting
was not held last Friday on account
of the contest, but will be held next
Friday. We shall be glad to have
any visitors at any time and will assure
them of an interesting programme.
