Miss Mae Hinnant of Andrews
was at home for the holidays, accompanied
by her friend,Miss Mabel
Holtzscheiter.
Mr and Mrs J M Blakeley returned
to their home at Georgetown last
week, after spending several days
with their parents here.
Mrs Emma Voile and daughter of
Florence are here for a few days en
route to their home, after a pleasant
visit with relatives at Andrews.
Mr Wallace Harrelson and sisters,
f Misses Delia and Phroso,of Andrews
vicinity, returned home Thursday,
after spending several days with
friends here.
We were glad to have in our
midst Christmas day Mrs W T Bedenbaugh
and little son, "Bozy", of
Pinopolis.
Mr Murphy Hardee and sisters, of
Andrews vicinity, were here a few
. days last week.
Mr Chester Blake of Sampit was
a pleasant caller near here Friday.
i Mr Tom Harris Of Andrews was a
C8ller here several days ago.
Miss Dodye Hinnant, who teaches
' at Warsaw, was at home for the
* Christmas holidays,
f Mr Tom Davis of Andrews was
! ? here "bird hunting" several days
last week.
Dr D Z Rowell and sister, Miss
Ethel, of Taft called pleasantly at
the home of Mr R D Blakeley Sunday
evening.
The young folk around here enV
joyed several entertainments during
"the past two weeks. But methinks
the most enjoyable was one given by
Miss Nettie Jeffords in honor of her
brother,Mr Vander Jeffords of Lake
City.
Good tl ing that Christmas comes
but once r year. If it did, I suspect
"Poor Boy" would be among those
poor unfortunates who are expected
to take a trip to Columbia soon.
t- Mr "Dock" Rowell of Taft called
pleasantly here last Sunday.
Miss 1'ayme Blakeley and little
nephew, Dutch, are spending this
week at Georgetown with relatives.
Miss Lydie McFaddin, a teacher
here, is spending the holidays at her
>home, much to the regret of the
young folk.
Mr R D Blakeley left for Georgetown
this morning to take in the
banquet there tonight.
' Rev Mr Bailey filled his appointment
here Sunday night. Owing to
the inclement weather, very few were
out. Poor Boy.

I Mr Willie J Brown leaves this
morning for Wofford. He expects j
to finish his studies by June. Mr?
John Porter also leaves for that col- j
lege. Misses Freda Carter and Adelaide
Prosser will return to Lander.
We wish for these young ladies and
gentlemen a successful year in their
studies.
Mr R Leo Carter was called to
Elliott Saturday evening to the bedside
of his wife, who is very sick.
We have since been informed that
Mrs Carter is much better and we
hope she will be able to return home
in a few days.
Rev Mr Hatchell of Timmonsville
filled his appointment at Little Star
church Sunday, the 3rd inst-, and
preached a very interesting sermon
to a fairly good congregation.
Mr and Mrs B B Johnson of Bethune
have returned to their home at
Leo. We are all glad to have them
back with us.
Mr and Mrs Floyd M Hanna of
Johnsonville spent the holidays with
Mr Hanna's parents, Mr and Mrs W J
W Burrows, at Leo.
Prospect Lodge, WOW, held its
first meeting for 1915 Friday evening.
We had a good session, with
two or three excellent lectures from
our members. Mr Editor, excuse
me for boasting, but we have as fine
a W 0 W lodge as there is in the
State of South Carolina. We have
the boys who know how to roll the
logs.
We are sorry to learn of the serious
illness of Mrs J R Grier of Johnsonville
but hope she will soon recover.
Mr Walter McElveen and family
of Cades spent the holidays with Mr
.Tnhn baddy's familv at Vox. Come
again, Mr Mac.
Mrs Emma Johnson of Johnsonville
is spending some time with Mrs
R F Brown at Leo.
Mrs A A Brown and two daughters,
Misses Elise and Alberta, spent
the holidays with the former's
daughter, iMrs Ed Hemingway of
Hemingway.
Mr Earl Hanna and sister and Mr
?McClary of Epps passed through
Leo Saturday on their way to visit
Mrs Harry Gaskins of Hanna.
Miss Leatha Edwarus returned
from Mullins by way of Johnsonville
Monday to assume her school duties
at Browntown.
There will be preaching at Prospect
next Sunday, 10th inst, by our
pastor, Rev P B Ingraham. Let us
all go to church if we want to hear
something good, for I know Brother
Ingraham will have it.

most enjoyable events of the season !
was a party given Thursday night at '
the home of Mr and Mrs J W Mc

nie and Nellie Scott of Kingstree.
The parlor and hall were taste- '
fully decorated with holly, mistletoe
and potted plants. The guests were '
met at the door by their charming
little hostess, Miss Alice McLaulin,
and ushered into'the parlor by Miss
Myrtle Cooper.
Many interesting games were
played,during which several classical
selections were rendered on the piano
by Miss Florence Hemingway of
Winthrop college. After several 1
hours of amusement the guests were
ushered into the spacious dining !
room,where delicious cake and fruit
were served by Misses Winnie Mc- !
Laulin, Isla Cooper, Lydie Clyde and
Claudia Haseldon. :

Salters Sketches.
Salters, January 4:?The holiday
season has passed, and we are
again in the beginning of a new
year. May we all meet its problems
with firmness as they come to
us day by day, endeavoring to avoid
the mistakes made by us during the
past year, and press forward in
the way of progress, doing that
which is right with our might.
Those who were at their homes
from the various colleges for the
holidays have all returned to resume
their studies.
Misses Ferguson and Heyward
have returned and are again at
their post of duty in the school
room.
Miss Irma Nettles of Lanes and
Mrs McDuffie of Columbia spent a
short while with relatiyes and
friends here Sunday.
Mrs C E Mosely has returned
from a pleasant visit to relatives at
Blenheim.
Presiding Elder H B Brown of
Kingstree preached a very thought- I
ful and instructive sermon in the
Methodist church here Sunday
morning. |
Rev WI Sinnott filled his appointment
at Lake City Sunday.
