Those who desire to pay their taxes through the mail may expedite matters by dropping the Treasurer a card asking for the amount of their taxes, so as to avoid sending the wrong amount, also stating the township or townships (if property is owned in more than one) and if possible give school district where property is located. Mr William E Smith, a student at the Presbyterian College of Clinton, came home to spend the holidays wicn nis parents. Prof J V McElyeen, who is teaching at Lenwood, N C, spent the Christmas holidays at home. Misses Arsie Green and Pearl Turbeville of Turbeville were guests of Miss Colea Baker last week. Miss Hattie Thomas of Kingstree spent the holidays here with her sister, Miss Effie. Mr and Mrs L T DuBose are visiting relatives at Hartsville and Darlington. \ Miss L Dess Gowdy of Lake City spent Xmas here with her cousin, Miss Mae Gowdy. Miss Jeddie Coker is visiting at New Zion. Miss Olive Smith, the charming and efficient teacher of Aimwell school, is spending Christmas at home. Miss Colea Baker entertained Saturday evening in honor of her guests. Regardless of the weather, a large crowd attended the function. A surprise party was very much enjoyed at Mr J L Gowdv's last Wednesday evening. Mr and Mrs J L McFaddin and family are spending some time at the former's father's. Mr and Mrs?Wagner of New York are spending the hunting season at Mr H A Kennedy's. Miss Flora Kennedy leaves this week to take charge of a school at Andrews. Daffodil. Death of an Infant. Greelyyille, December 26: ? The death angel entered the home of Mr and Mrs Allen Bradham Tuesday, December 15, 1914, and took from them to the heavenly home their little girl, Emma Lee, aged ten months. Here, within easy sound of the roar and clamor of the street, the big bird settled down contentedly for a couple of hours while he made a leisurely meal. Occupants of nearby office buildings were the first to spot the unusual visitor and soon spyglasses were trained upon him from dozens of windows.
