BLEASE'S CLEMENCY LIST. Prisoners Who Were Pardoned and Paroled Before Xmas. Columbia, December 25: ? Governor Blease's clemency list this Christmas included: John E Hough, who killed his father-in-law in Kershaw county in 1913, and who was tried and found guilty of murder and sentenced to be electrocuted in March this year, the sentence being commuted to life imprisonment in the State Penitentiary, and on Thanksgiving being reduced to five years, received full pardon. Paroles were also issued by the Governor to the following: John Creech, convicted on two charges of burglary and larceny in Richland county in 1908 and sentenced to thirteen years. Liege Dendy, convicted of manslaughter at Newberry in 1912 and sentenced to a term of years. James Johnson, convicted of assault with intent to kill, in Newberry county, and sentenced to five years' imprisonment. Lee Catter, convicted in six cases of housebreaking and larceny at Union in 1904 and sentenced to a total of thirteen years. For the first time since he has been in office Governor Blease did not issue a regular Christmas pardon list. Mr. Jasper King Dead. \ Mr J King, who lived near town beyond Fairplain, died Friday night. Mr King had purchased a home near here four years ago, having moved from South Carolina. He died from heart trouble suddenly Friday afternoon at 2 p. m. while in the room alone, Mrs King, his wife, returning into the room and finding him dead. Two daughters survive him, Miss Manie King, who has been a trained nurse at the Twin-City hospital of Winston-Salem, and Miss Vashti at the same place learning to be a trained nurse, and one son, Mr Norvin King, who accompanied the remains from here yesterday morning on the train for burial at Greelyville, S C, the former home of Mrs King. Mr King had been in poor health for some time.? Xorth Wilksboro,(NC)t Hustler, December 8m Mr King married Miss Lorena Montgomery, third daughter of the late Mr SI Montgomery of Greelyville. They lived in this and adjoining counties for sixteen years, moving from McClellanville, S C, to North Wilkesboro, N C. Mr and Mrs King celebrated their silver wedding two years ago. Misses Brown and Stuckey of Lake City are visiting Miss Cassie Hudson. Henry E Davis, Esq., of Florence visited relatives here this week. Misses Ferguson and Hey ward, teachers of the Salters school, are spending the holidays at their respective homes. Mr Frank Stubbs of Branchville spent Christmas day with relatives here. Miss Emma Weaver of Kingstree visited friends here during the holidays. Mr and Mrs Felkel and Mr J W Moseley have returned to their homes in Charleston, after a short visit to relatives here. There was a quiet but pretty Christmas wedding at Union church Thursday afternoon, December 24, the contracting parties being Miss Ellen Britton of Lanes and Mr George Rhodes of Estill.
