We are receiving many compliments on the complete election returns we gave last week, though we were delayed twenty-four hours in issuing the paper to get them. No weekly paper in the State gave a better report of the election than ours, if we do say it ourself. Other charges having fallen a report is being circulated that Hon R I Manning is a Catholic. While MiManning is broad and liberal in his religious views toward all denomim*tions, as a matter of fact he is a member of the Episcopal church. We know this to be a fact. Just a reminder. Political notices of all kinds, including cards of thanks, are charged for at the rate I of one cent a word. It costs money to set type, and if the candidate is sincere in his gratitude, he ought to be willing to pay for it and not ask, us to bear the burden of expense. Owing to the pressure on our columns last week we were forced to ' - - - i hold over several interesting communications, which appear this week. We had this matter, as well as several editorial articles, already in type, but lacked the space to publish them. We hope our esteemed correspondents will appreciate our posi- J tion. In a case like this our rule is to give preference to the first that come in.
