in about three hours instead of six
as heretofore with horse and buggy.
Mr R D Cox is expected to go into
business here. We wish him much
success in his line.
The \Y. 0. W. unveiled the monu
ment to Mr Vance Venters at Johnsonville
Sunday, July 12. at I p. m. j
The unveiling was nicely conducted.
We also had two good addresses;
one by our pastor. Rev P B lngraham,
and another by State Deputy
Marsh of Monck's Corner.

are placing materials on the ground
for the erection of a building to
carry their lines of vehicles. We expect
to have two vehicle sales houses
at Hemingway in the near future.
We are glad to note that Dr G B
Haselden is able to be out again.
Mr J T DuRant went to Georgetown
on business a few days last
week.

S Hemingway is still very unwell, j
However, we trust that the All-Wise
Being may restore her to good
health again.
The iceman is selling about 5,000
pounds of ice a week and expects '
to double that amount during Au-1
gust. This gives an idea of Heming-j
way's caloric.
The railroad company is bu lding
a side-track for the convenience of
the tobacco warehousemen, which
will be quite har.dy for them in lead-1
ing tobacco.
Rev J 0 Carraway and daughter
of Rome were in town a few hours

looking fine in this section.
Farmers are busy with tobacco.
From the out-look, cotton picking
will be about two weeks earlier than
. last year. If no back-set occurs,
there will be a good crop of the
fleecy staple on -the market by August

Eunice C'larkson is improving, after
being down with typhoid fever for

Williams, a negro man, in a field
