Mrs P S McChesney and children left last week for Rockville, where they will spend the summer months. Mr W D Craig, an experienced druggist of Columbia, has arrived in Kingstpae to take charge of the prescnption department of the Scott Drug Co. Messrs Lucian Kinder, Paul Wheeler and Will and Joe Wilkins have returned home after a successful term at the Porter Military academy, Charleston. Mr Geo H McKee of Darlington was in King^tree Tuesday in the interest of the horse show and 4th of July celebration to be held at Dariington July 3. We congratulate him on this deserved recognition of of his ability. Mr P S Courtney left last Saturday for Yorkville, where he is on a visit to his brother. Mr Courtney stopped over*at Spartanburg to attend the graduating exercises of Wofford college. In the absence of Rev P S McChesney, Dr S C Byrd, president of Chicora college, Greenville, will conduct the regular morning and evening services at the Presbyterian church here Sunday. We are sorry to learn that Terrell, the attractive little son of Dr and Mrs C D Jacobs, sustained painful injuries about the head and face this morning by falling from the poarch floor of his parents' home. Mr John W Dennis, Jr, announces his aspiration to be Road Engineer. Miss Hallie McCullough and Mr Ed W Tutle were married at 11:30 o'clock Sunday night in the parlors of the Charleston Hotel. Mr Tutle is the popular agent of the A C L railway at Salters and is well known in this county. -Mrs Tutle is the charming daughter pf Mr W B McCullough of Taft and is well known in Kingstree, where she was formerly employed by the Kingstree Dry Goods Co. The Southern Cotton Oil company have recently disposed of their property in Kingstree to E L Hirsch, Esq, and Mr L P Kinder. The sum of $8,000.00 was paid the company for this property, which consists of a ginnery, fertilizer plant, oil mill and tanks, a railroad side track and 2 1-2 acres, embracing the tract upon which this property is located. Messrs Hirsch and Kinder propose to improve the property and put the plants into operation as soon as practicable. Phillips?Epps. Do It Now. What about becoming a member of the Kingstree Board of Trade? If you are interested in your own business, the industrial growth of your own town or the material upbuilding of your own county, yo? should not consider this question lightly. The Kingstree Board of Trade has recently been organized, with a corps of competent officers at its head. The treasurer,Mr W H Welch, is now making a canvass of the business and professional men of KingatrAp fnr thp nurnosp of soliciting and enrolling their names as annual members of the organization. The officers of the newly organized board propose to start an advertising campaign in the interest of Kingstree just as soon as the membership enrollment is large enough to insure sufficient funds to ! carry on the work, which is to be along lines similar to those that proved so beneficial last year. The 1 annual membership fee is $5.00 and | it is hoped that at least one hundred citizens will feel enough interest in y this matter to promptly enroll as < members of the Board of Trade and ( put their shoulders to the wheel in i an earnest effort to make Kingstree i the best and biggest tobacco market in the State. Some men's minds are smaller . than a chigger, and don't create half ; as much stir. i STATE CAMPAIGN MEETING ro Be Held Here Next Tuesday it Central Tobacco Warehouse. Next Tuesday, June 23, is the day ixed for the State campaign meetng at Kingstree. Candidates for Governor and other State offices are xpected to be here in full force and o give the voters of Williamsburg ouDty the opportunity of hearing heir views on the most important natters connected with the various iffices to which they aspire. Natually enough,the office of paramount mportance to be discussed at this neeting is that of Governor. There ire eleven candidates in the field for his office, but it is not known just iow how many of them will be >resent. Besides the eleven aspirints for Gubernatorial honors there rill probably be present to paricipate in the meeting candidates or the offices of Lieutenant Gov>rnor, Attorney-General and Raiload Commissioner, each of which s being contested for by two or nore gentlemen. So far there eems to be no opposition to State Treasurer Carter, State Superintenlent of Education Swearingen or Comptroller-General Jones. Howsver, these candidates will wish to nake themselves known to the vo?rs of Williamsburg and will most ikely be present at the meeting Tuesday. The new Central warehouse has >een sectored by Secretary Hinds, of ;he County Executive committee, as ;he place of meeting. Mr Hinds vill preside over the meeting in the ibsence of the chairman, Mr P H Stoll, who will be absent attending ,o his duties as Solicitor of the Third circuit. According to present plans the meeting will be called ;o order at 11 o'elock a. m. and ecess at 1:30 o'clock p. m. for uncheon: meet aeain at 2:30 p. m. md continue until each candidate las been heard.
