Lee?Myers.
Scranton, June 10:?the marriage
of Miss Lalla Lee and Mr B B Myers,
both of Scranton, at the home of
the bride's parents yesterday afternoon,
was a most brilliant event,
and one of which Scranton society
may well be proud. Although a
home wedding so great was the
number of guests that the entire
floor of the beautiful family residence
on Pine Tree street was called
into requisition.
The ceremony was performed by
Rev J W Truluck, pastor of the local
Baptist church, in the drawing roc n.
The white columns, which separated
this room from the reception room,
were festooned with Southern smilax
and in the bay window a chancel
had been arranged of small white
columns twined with hot house
smilax.
Mr and Mrs Myers left on the
evening train for the North for a
bridal trip. The bride's goingaway
costum was a coat suit of
dark brown brightened with touches
Df blue, with hat to match.
The most attractive room in the 1
house, after the ceremony, was un- |
ioubtedly the one on in which the ,
presents were displayed. J
Mrs Myers is the daughter of Mrs
Etobt E Lee, and is a young woman |
)f high tone and fine character and i
s beloved by many friends. <
Mr Myers is a son of Mr W T ^

CRIMINAL COURT PROCEEDINGS.
Judge Wilson Presides with Dignity--Discharges
Duties Quickly.
The June term of the court of
general sessions opened here Monday
at noon, with Judge John S Wilson,
of the Third circuit, Dresiding.
Court Stenographer Wood of Sumter
was on hand, .as were Solicitor
Stoll and other officers of the court,
ready for the despatch of such matters
as required their attention. The
criminal docket was a light one and

was compieieu uy AUCBUay cvcumn. i
Judge Wilson's charge to the grand
jury was delivered in his usual lucid
and impressive style, breathing
sympathy for the unfortunates who
had become entangled in the meshes
of the law.
Judge John S Wilson is a great
favorite in Kingstree and Williamsburg
county, not altogether because
he is a native of the soil, but, withal,
on account of his courteous, gentlemanly
bearing and sympathetic nature.
He still admits that old Williamsburg
is the best county in the
State and that her citizenship is un- '
surpassed.
He highly commended the grand
jurors for their work Monday by 1
saying that it was a record day's
work. They had heard and passed 1
upon twelve indictments, which, the '
Judge said, was very unusual work
for a grand jury in less than half a 1
day.
The following cases were brought i
before the court and disposed of: 1
James and Julius Eaddy, two ne- i
gro boys, plead guilty to house ]
breaking and larceny and were given ]
9 months each on the county chain- :
gang, or a like period in the State <
penitentiary. \ i
Bennie Barfield, a white man, j
tried for a similar crime, was found i
not guilty. Counsel for defense, I j

of simple assault and battery. The

E D Smith, Governor Cole L
Blease, Hon W P Pollock of Cheraw
and Mayor L D Jennings of Sumter,
"the big four" aspirants for the seat
in the Upper House of Congress now
beld by the first named, spoke before
a crowd of about eight hundred,
probably two hundred of whom were
ladies of Calhoun county, and citizens
from several adjoining counties.
County Chairman T H Dreher presided,
and pretty good order was
preserved throughout the meeting,
ivhich was held on the school
grounds. Each candidate was ac:orded
a respectful hearing, and
vhile it was evident that the Smith
idherents were in the majority, suplorters
of the Governor were not
