Florence, April 25:?A very important and far-reaching decision has just been announced from the supreme court, which has not yet teen handed down, but the attorhorp whn are interested in the mwv^ ? ? case, Willcox & Willcox, have received notice of the decision. It is in the matter of the "indeterminate" lease on the timber lands bought by large lumber companies in this part of the State, a case parallel with the one recently determined which created so great a stir in commercial worlds fixing a "reasonable time" in which the timber companies should start tp cut timber after buying the timber rights. In the former case the companies had been resting secure that they could commence whenever they got ready on lands over v.hich they held timber rights bought when - ? J-J U? timber was ugntiy regarutru uy mc owner of the land. In this case the companies exercised the right to continue cutting as long as they wished, and the land owners sought to restrict them to a "reasonable" time for stopping. The period in question was ten years, the case was the Midland Timber company vs Prettyman. The lower court gave a decision, bj Judge Spain, in favor of the company and the case was appealed. The supreme court sustains Judge Spain and the companies are sti 1 secure in their interpretation of the indefinite contract that they can cut timber so long as there is timber to cut. There are thousands of acres of land through this country involved in these contracts and hundreds of land owners interested.?The. State. BENSON BRIEFS. Amateur Play Presented?No Political Dissension. Benson, April 28:?Friday, April 24, "Grandmother Hilderbrand's Legacy", a drama, was presented at Cedar Swamp school building in a manner very creditable by the local talent, who have been practicing fcr the occasion for some time. A crowded house witnessed the performance and when "Grandmother" had the "crick" in the back it brought forth a peal of reverberating laughter, and her appearance every time would add life to the scene. The next evening the same play was presented at Indiantown school building, but on account of the small crowd the lack of inspira tion was noticeable, and, besides, one the *'star"performers was quite sick while acting, both of which detracted from the brilliancy of the performance'as compared with that of the previous evening at Cedar Swamp. However,the trip to Indiantown was a pleasant one. The home party went early in the afternoon with the baseball twirlers of this place to see them line up against the sluggers of that section. Our boys outclassed them on the diamond easily and one of the fans said, "it a cinch." For modesty's sake a troop of damsels, in the Indiantown boys' behalf, requests that the score appear not in print. Next Saturday they will meet again on the local diamond near Cedar Grove Baptist church, where a closely contested game is expected in the afternoon.
