Greelyville, March 23:?On the evening of March 20, the opening session of the Ladies' District Missionary conference was held at the Methodist church here. There were present delegates from all over the Kingstree district. The weather was very inclement but the meeting was full of sunshine and interest. There were addresses from many: A communication of welcome was read by Prof Bonner. from the mayor of the town, followed by ad-% dresses of welcome from Mrs Brown,' representing the Presbyterian; Mrs Rankin, the Baptist, and Mrs Way, the Methodist missionary societies. These addresses were all earnest and 'ull of interest. The pastor closed the service with an address on missions. On Saturday the business session was held with Miss Ossie Epps in the chair and Miss Maggie Keels secretary. After the business was transacted and many encouraging reports received, the conference was delighted with a stirring adHroca hv Mis<a Daviaa nf Atlanta. She is a member of the General Board of Missions and one of the most prominent women in soutnern Methodism. Miss Davies told of the great need today in her enthusiastic ' and touching way and laid especial stress on the indifference and laxity of the people in the homeland. She spoke again on Sunday morhing, Sunday afternoon to the children, and also Sunday night. Much interest was manifested,as we were held spellbound under her speaking. She is a great woman, representing a great cause, and < has made a great impression. It is a great privilege to have such a woman speak to us. An enjoyable reception was given to the members of the Missionary District conference by the ladies of the Methodist church at Mrs J F Register's. The ladies of the other churches in town were also invited and attended with us. Mrs W S Whi taker and Miss Bettie Register furnished the music. Refreshments were served. Miss Davies delighted all with a story of the wives of the Prince of India. We hope it will be our pleasure to entertain this conference again in the near future. Maggie Keels.
