The office of the Supervisor of Registration
will be open on the 1st Monday
in each month for the purpose of
registering any person who is qualified
as follows:
Who shall have been a resident ol
the State for two years, and of the
county one year, and of the polling precinct
in which the elector offers to
vote four months before the day of
election, and shall have paid, six
months before, any poll tax then due
and payable, and who can both read
and write any section of the constitution
of 1895 submitted to him by the
Supervisors of Registration, or who
can show that he owns, and has paid
all taxes collectible on during the
present year, pioperty in tms ovate

DuRant-Gravely Marriage?Minister

Lake City, February 11:?The
friends and acquaintances of Miss
Eilie Gravely ^nd Mr E M DuRant
were surprised to learn of their
marriage this morning. The marriage
took place at the home of the
bride's brother, Mr M K Gravely,
at 6:30 o'clock, Rev E P Easterling
performing the ceremony in the
presence of only the immediate
family of the bride and the groom
and a few intimate friends. Immediately
after the ceremonv amid
general felicitations, the happy
couple left for Florence, via automobile,
where they took the "Palmetto
Limited" for Palm Beach to spend
their honeymoon. This deservedly
popular couple have a host of friends
here, who wish for them the best in
this life.
Mrs T J Cottingham Friday afternoon
of last week entertained
the "Kill Kare Klub." A very
pleasant hour was spent with needle
work, after which delicious refreshments
were served.
Miss Elizabeth Jones has been
substitute teacher of the fourth
grade for several days, on account
of the illness of Mrs Beard. The
latter, we are glad to learn, has
greatly improved and will resume
her work in the course of the next
few days.
Miss Mollie Nachman left for
New York and other Northern
cities Monday evening:, where she
will purchase her spring1 millinery
stock. While in New York Miss
Nachman will attend the marriage
of her aunt.
Mr J 0 Green, of the South Carolina
University, spent the week-end
at home with his parents, Mr and
Mrs J A Green.
Rev T J Rooke and family are
preparing to move to Atlanta, Ga.
This much esteemed family have
resided here for the past fourteen
years, where by their pleasant and
genial manners, they have gained a
large circle of friends, who regret
to learn of their departure, yet all
wish that they may be as contented
and successful in their new home as
they were at this place.
Mr and Mrs J W Moody of Columbia,
who have been here during
the fall season, returned to their
home in Columbia last Saturday.
Mrs 0 E Singletary is preparing
to move into her magnificent residence
on South Main street. She is
also having the entire Singletary
block of buildings re-painted and re
modeling other of her buildings here.
Messrs R F Joyner & Co are
moving into the Epps building this
week. The other store has not been
leased yet, but we are informed that
an option has been taken on it and
( it will probably be let within a few
i weeks. Miss Mollie Nachman will
occupy the rear of the Joyner building
for her millinery parlors.
Mr 0 T Hall is remodeling his tobacco
warehouse, adding on about
i 40 ft and elevating it 2 ft. On account
of the anticipated rush of tobacco
this season, the warehousemen
are planning "big things."
i Mr and Mrs H Van Epps spent the
week-end in the "City by the Sea."
Mrs H G Askins, who went to
Charleston last week to have her
eyes treated, is much improved, I
am glad to report. LBN.
