The Ohio State university has introduced
an apprentice course in animal
husbandry that includes two years'
study at the university and two years
of practical work on a stock farm.

Ratcliffe Morris, the 12-year-old
son of Mrs Ella T Morris of Sumter,
Bhot himself through the heart with
a pistol Saturday afternoon of last
week. No reason is known why the
boy should have ended his life by
his own hand.

Joe Kinsey was shot and killed by ,
Victor Kearse Saturday evening, 2
the shooting taking place on the 1
main street of the town of Olar.
Kinsey and Kearse were associates
in a lunch room business at Olar
and the fatal quarrel is said to have
grown out of business differences.

Thoma3 H Neal, a farmer living
about four miles below Cross Hill,
Laurens county, shot and instantly
killed Isaac Smith, a negro farm
hand, Friday shortly after midnight.
Neal claimed self-defence and surrendered
to the Sheriff Saturday
morning. He was admitted to bail
by Associate Justice Watts at
Laurens Saturday afternoon in the
sum of $1,000.

of Mrs Allison Rexroat, a dancing

money," he said nonchalantly,after

James Kennedy was shot to death
Saturday night at Florence and Wm
Crawford is charged with the crime.
Crawford ran and hid after the killing,
but was soon overhauled and
placed in jail. Crawford is a Florence
negro and is said to be a bully.
Kennedy came from Savannah and
bore the reputation of being a peace9AAma

Aaron Henderson and Milledge
Washington as principals and Joe
Rouse as accessory are in jail at Aiken
charged with the killing of <
Louie Martin, a white man, at a negro
hot supper Saturday night at
Jackson Station, in Aiken county.
There seems to have been a free
fight in which knives and pistols
were used. Martin was shot twice
and lived only a short time. All the
prisoners are negroes,

Glen Woodley, the 6-year-old sotf
of Mr and Mrs E J Woodley of
Jackson Springs, N C, while playing
on a pile of seed cotton in an outhouse
with his younger brother last
Saturday, fell head foremost into a
hole in the cotton and wa3 smothered.
His little brother tried to pull
him out but his efforts were vain.The
body of the unfortunate chiltf
was brought to Clio, S C. the former
home of his parents, and interred
