Rev P S McChesney conducted the opening exercises, and talks were made by him and Superintend ent Speigner. We were glad to have bo many patrons of the school at the opening exercises and were also pleased to have such a number of visitors during the past week. SOCIETY NOTES. The Wee Nee Literary society held its first meeting for the new school year Friday, September 19, in the society hall, with Miss Thorn in the chair. The exercises were very interesting. The subject for debate was: "Resolved, That the Japanese should be driven from California." The decision was rendered in favor of the negative. We were very glad to nave the eighth grade become members of our society and also to have the new teachers as honorary members. We arc pleased to have as our Latin teacher this year Miss Ada B Brockington, who graduated from our school and was among the organizers of our society.
