The district convention of the Knights of Pythias will meet at Kingstree on Tuesday, April 22. Members of the local lodge are, already making preparations for the event and a very interesting programme is being arranged. There will be a large number of visiting Pythians, among are whom several well known speakers, who will address the convention. A banquet will be given at the Kellahan hotel at the conclusion of business. A communication from Bloomingvale, which came in late week before last, in some way became misplaced in our office, which is why the letter failed to appear in print. We apologize to the fair writer and if she will pardon our seeming carelessness and will send us another letter, we assure her that it shall not meet the fate of the other. The preliminary contest for the selection of delegates to represent the Kingstree High and Graded school at the county oratorical and athletic exercises will be held in the auditorium of the school buildincr at 8 o'clock p. m. Friday, April 11. Those who will enter the preliminary contest are: Misses Ruby Thorn, Olive Montgomery, Elizabeth Speigner, Jennie Lee Epps, Leora Gamble and Rowena Eaddy; Messrs Edward Hurt,Alex Blakeley, Zeno Montgomery,Casper Holroyd.Earle Cook, McBride McFaddin and Wm Gamble. The public is invited to attend. Musical selections will be rendered, and an interesting evening is promised. The county oratorical and athletic association will be held at Kingstree Friday, April 18. Tillman's Beautiful Speech.
