Wee Nee Boys Down Opponents
on Their Own Grounds.
It sounds odd to hear of Kingsf
tree defeating I^ake City in a game of
baseball on the latter's own grounds;
nevertheless it was done last Thursday,and
the score was 17?10. The
bad condition of the ground is responsible
for the large score. The
till pine trees and'thick underbrush,
coupled with numerous frog ponds
here and there, made it quite difficult
for the boys to handle the ball.

was invincible. He let the locals

hand, the visitors hit Eaddy's offerings

The high school girls were unable
to accompany the tean; to Lake City,
but they made up for their absence
by walking four and a-half miles to
} Brockington and meeting us there
with hearty greetings. It showed
their loyalty and was highly appreciated
by the entire team.
A bull frog glee club rendered delightful
music during the game.

killed Sam Clark with a shotgun in
Spartanburg Sunday, has surrender-j
ed and was committed to jail. Both
are negroes. Carter had a grudge
against Clark, it is said.and had made
threats against him. He called at
