Andrews, February 19:?Tuesday night. February 18, Mr and Mrs Bach man Doar entertained in com-1 memoration of St Valentine's day, all lovers' saint, who died the death | of a martyr about five or six centuries ago. That this is an opportune time for making joyous and lasting associations is evidenced by the. fact that even the birds begin mating at this period, and truly it is with the coming of spring that the youthful fonmec "liorhtlv turn to thoughts of love." The hall, parlor and dining-room were beautifully decorated with snowdrops, ivy and red hearts. This scheme was very effectively carried out in the parlor and dining-room, where festoons of ivy, from which hung many small hearts, were suspended from the ceiling and joined at the center of the room with a very large heart. The guests had assembled at 8:30. They were received at the door oy Mr and Mrs Doar. Those present were: Misses Sue Bailey, Carrie Clemmons, Mollie Young, Mamie Pipkin, Hannah and Bella Ballanberger, Ruth lsokriet, Iva Flowers, Annie Blakeley, Ada Catlet, Novel Richardson, Hinnant, Rivers, Dibble, Margerie Rogers, Eunice and Bessie Huggins, and Messrs D Herrin, Farris, Frank Fulton, Livingston Moyd, Louis Ballenberger, LeRoy Payne, German, Martin, Charlie Levy, Arthur Flowers, Fred Weatherford, Robert Clemmons and Prof Carnes. Beautiful musical selections were rendered by Misses Rivers, Isokriet and Young. The hostess presented lovely valentines to the guests. After these had been distributed, each in turn read his aloud. After a few words of pleasant conversation the girls were^asked to assemble in the hall, where hearts bearing the names of partners were pinned on their backs. The boys had to find their partners by these tags. Then Mrs Doar and Mrs Clemmons conducted the guests to the dining-room,where a del ghtful course of heart-shaped sandwiches, pickles and hot chocolate was served. The dainty place cards were heart-shaped and carried out the valentine scheme of the evening. Next games were played. Everyone seemed to enjoy the evening and to enter fully into the valentine spirit. Eunice Huggins. The new nickel,of Indian head and buffalo design, will be put into general circulation on Saturday. Moore.?William Abraham John Moore was born April 21, 1S52, and joined Pergamos Methodist church when he was about thirty years of age. In January, 1879, he was hap- j pily married to MissZilpha Ann Wilson. He died October 22, 1912, at i his home near Lake City. Sister Moore was born April 27, 11854, joined the Baptist church at I the age of twelve years and after I her marriage went to the Methodist church with her husband. She died March 2, 1912. For fifteen years preceding his death Brother Moore was the effic-! ient superintendent of the Sabbath- [ school, and for two years he served his church as steward. A devoted daughter pays this tribute to her departed parents: "They were both earnest Christian workers and their regular places in } church were never vacant until death j claimed them. Ihey were known] and loved by the poor and needy of' their community." We knew personally those of i whom we write; we have enjoyed the Christian hospitality of their; home, witnessed and felt the Chris tian spirit that pervaded it and glad-1 ly add our testimony to that of the j devoted and faithful daughter. In i life they walked hand in hand and I in death they were not long-divided. I The church has suffered in the: death of these good people, and the j community about Moore's Cross Roads has sustained a distinct loss. They were Methodists of the old school, held firmly to the old faith, walked in the old paths and enjoyed the rich experience which make Methodists a peculiar people. Gone from the earth they are, but their example, their Godly walk and influence, abide to direct, admonish, encourage and comfort those who tarry. The following children survive their departed parents: Mrs W C Kelly, Misses Beulah and Edna and Dr L W and Mr B J Moore. May they walk by faith in patience the straight and narrow way and also gain a portion in that inheritance reserved for them that obey God. In the old family burying ground, amid a large and sorrowing assemblage of friends and relatives, their bodies were gently, tenderly laid away to await the resurrection of j i the dead. . (J W Creighton. Francisco I Medero, the deposed President of the republic of Mexico and Jose Pine Suarez, a former Vice President of the same republic, were shot to death Sunday in the streets of the city of Mexico, while being taken under guard to the penitentiary. The government claims that the killing is due to an attempt to rescue the prisoners. Tbe Largest Magazine in tbe World. */r, 1 ..
