OTHER IMPROVEMENTS PROJECTED--S. A. L. EXPECTED TO ENTER THE TOWN. Lake City, February 18:?Satur1 day night Mr J C Murchison, division superintendent of the ACL railroad met the town council and submitted blue prints for a proposed new passenger and freight station. The council resolved in favor of allowing the changes, and a new and handsome depot will soon be another 1 addition to Lake City's wonderful growth and development. Almost similar plans were submitted to the council last year, but were rejected on account of the fire limits oidinance. The present plans, however, show a solid brick wall passenger station with sufficient floor space for waiting rooms, baggage rooms and offices, adjoining a freight station of nearly twice the size of the present one. with cotton, tobacco and truck platforms extending {southward. The brick passenger station will face northward and will relieve the congested and unsjghtly condition now pre. ented by'overcrowding traffic. Upon the completion of the new depot, which is promised for the tobacco season, the council, it is hoped, will be in a financial condition to remove the old wooden building on the town lot and erect a suitable town hall thereon. Negotiations are pending whereby the railroad company hopes to purchase the old bottling works lot. .QhmilH thp cnmnanv snrepf?d ?aild it is hoped that it will?with this blot removed, a new town hall in place of the present bill-posted marble works and a new depot, the general appearance of this part of the town will be in keeping with greater Lake City's growth. It seems assured that the Seaboard Air Line railroad will make Lake City. Well, we are slighted in some things, such as good roads, etc, but when it comes to doing business, "watch Lake City grow." The universal cry is "good roads," "bond issue," "taxes," but what's the use? A great many places around Lake City are almost impassable. Never mind, Lake City, don't you cry, you'll be a county seat by and by. Mr B Wallace Jones, Sr, has returned to the city,after spending several days in Charleston on business. Mrs L 0 Holloway and children of Wilson, N C, are spending a few days with the former's brother, Dr C D Rollins, on Acline avenue. Mr and Mrs Kern, of North Carolina, are visiting at the home of Mrs Van Eppe. Monday evening the Ladies' Aid society of the Baptist church entertained with a valentine party at the home of Mrs M D Nesmith. The entire lower floor was thrown en suite; the reception hall, parlor, dining-room and library were profusely decorated in lovely red and white hearts and large red cut roses, and poinsettias. The younger set were. dressed as comic and fancy valentines; prizes were given for the two most comic and one for the fancy costume, which were won by Misses Estell Haselton and Michaux as comic, and Miss Maggie McClam as the most fancy costume. Miss McClam represented the "Queen of Hearts" and the effect was carried out very charmingly. Refreshments consisting of delicious cream, ambrosia and v cakes were sold during the evening.
