Are the trains too slow for you? Caesar, with all of his court, never exceeded the speed limit. Are your wages too small? In Europe people are content with making a living. Are the lights too dim? David wrote his Psalms by the light of a smoky torch. Are you ugly? Cleopatra, though homely, bewitched two emperors. Are you cold? The soldiers of Valley Forge walked barefoot on the ice and snow. Are you hungry? The children of India are starving for want of a crust of bread. Are you tired? Why fret about it? Jacob was tired when he dreamed of the angels of Heaven. Are you sick? Suppose you had lived 2,000 years ago, when sickness was fatal? Are you poor? The Savior of men was not wealthy. Cheer up! Praise God that you live in tne miasi 01 nis uiessiuga. Why fret??American Magazine. Could Shout tor Joy. "I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart,,v wrote C B Rader of Lewisburg, W Va, "for the wonderful double benefit I got from Electric Bitters in curing me of both a severe case of stomach trouble and of rheumatism, from which I .had been an almost helpless sufferer for ten years. It suited my case as though made just for me." For dyspepsia, indigestion, jaundice, and to rid the system of kidney poisons that cause rheumatism, Electric Bitters nave no superior. Try them. LEGISLATORS AT ROCK HILL Enjoyed the Trip Despite the Inclement Weather. Rock Hill, January 24:?With 740 girls to welcome them and a small army of professors and citizens to make their stay pleasant the mem^~A oennrtKhr iirVin UCIS Ul LUC UCUCIOI hooluwij ?11V visited Winthrop college today would have enjoyed the day in spite of themselves. The day was not auspicious for the trip and many faced the jaunt with misgivings,a cold rain, the first in many moons, playing an accompaniment as the "Legislative Special" steamed out of the Columbia union station. It rained throughout the day here, but happily the several buildings of Winthrop are water proof. The trip to Winthrop was pronounced by veteran Legisla tors who have made many trips of inspection to State institutions as good as the best of any that had gone before. Arrived at Rock Hill, the special was run into the Winthrop college track and the members of the General Assembly at once escorted to the auditorium where they took their seats in spaces arranged county by county. They were then shown through the buildings by the students from their counties. After a tour of the grounds informal receptions occupied the time until dinner was announced. At the dinner, which was enjoyed by some 1,200 persons, after dinner speeches were made in response to the following i toasts: "The State of South Carolina," Senator E E Vernor of Oconee; "Robert E Lee," Lieut Gov Charles A Smith of Timmoasville; "Education," W J Roddey of Rock Hill; "The General Assembly," Dr George W Dick, chairman of the ways and means committee of the House. Dr D B Johnson, president of Winthrop college, presided as toastmaster. After dinner a concert was given in honor of the visitors and the train left Rock Hill for Columbia at 7 o'clock. J Brian Bell.
