Sunday night of last week to Mrs
Eva Roete in the city hospital at Aurora,

Lake City, December 31:?Magistrate
0 S Baldwin returned Sunday
evening from Noirth Carolina, where
he scent Christmas with friends and
relatives.
Miss Lottie Woods spent Munday
with Dr and Mrs M A Woods,at this
place.
Misses Estelle Haselton, Gaynell
Collins and Mollie and Leah Nachman
spent one day in Florence last
week.
Miss Mae Griffin of Pinewood is
the guest of Mrs H P Epps.
Mrs B A Truluck and daughter.
Miss Bernice, left last week for Florida,
where they will spend the winter
with relatives.
Miss Ruth Johnson of Dunn, N C,
was the charming and attractive
guest of Miss Gaynell Collins several
days last week.
Misses Frances and Florence Faaa
of Dillon were the popular young
guests of Misses Nachman last week.
Mr W L Collins of Florence, ac
compamed by Mr ? Self, spent sunday
in town with his prrents.
Little Ernest Blizzard is recovering
from effects of a very painful
accident. The boy fell while playing
a few days ago, and apparently
bruiaed his eye very badly, which
continually grew worse until Dr J D
Eaddy was called in. The Doctor
extracted a splinter two inches in
length from the affected member
and although still experiencing considerable
pain, little Ernest is rapidly
improving.
Much to the delight of his many
friends, Mr George C Haselton, the
popular and efficient cashier of the
Bank of Lake City, has again resum- ?
ed his duties. Mr Haselton is to be
congratulated upon his narrow escape
from injury in his fall from the
top of the Methodist church.
Messrs Justin Morris and Robby
McElveen, both of Cheraw, were at
home for Christmas with their parents.
I Mr Dick Sturgeon of Jacksonville,
.Fla, was called to the bedside of his
brother, Mr W L Sturgeon,Mo was
critically ill, but is greatly improved . %
at this time.
There was an exceedingly fast and
exciting race on the outskirts of
town last night in which several citizens,
accompanied by the Chief of
Police, participated. An unknown
negro stole some personal property
from the store of Epps & Epps. It

diecovered and the chase begun.
The last seen of the negro is when
he went into the deep sewerage canal
in West Lake City. Mr D M

fastest sprinter in the race.
