Death of Milton Marcos.
No more painful duty has befallen
this writer than to announce the
death of Master Milton Marcus,
which occurred at 1:25 this morning
at the home of his parents, Mr and
Mrs S Marcus, on West Main street.
This bright youth was Bearing his
seventeenth birthday, having been
born in NewYork city, May 30,1896.
He came to Kingstree with his parents
some ten or twelve years ago.
He whs a bright boy and possessed a
quiet,amiable disposition,which commended
him to the high esteem of
all who knew him.
About three years ago his health
became impaired and the cause was
pronounced to be diabetes. Everything
that medical skill could do for
him here and in his native city was
not spared and only two months ago
he returned from New York, where

specialist during the summer.
On Sunday morning his condition
grew worse. Dr W G Gamble was
called and on Monday the young
man was better; on Tuesday he was
able to go for a drive with Mrs W G
Gamble, but later in the day he was
seized by a sinking spell from which
it was thought he would not recover,
but he rallied, and his condition
was hopeful until yesterday afternoon,when
he sank into unconsciousness,
remaining so until death relieved
him ^t 1:25 this morning. .
Thus the Grim Reaper has cast
his mantle of death about this
bright young man and removed him
from our midst, fy>m the fireside of
a happy home and from the tender,
loving care of devoted parents and
twn vonncypr motors to whnrn the
profound sympathy of the entire
community will go in full measure.
The remains were taken to
Charleston on the noon-day train and
interment will be made in the Jewish
cemetery there this afternoon.

Rev D jV Phillips, appointed to the
Kingstree Methodist church by the
annual Conference at its recent session,
filled his pulpit here Sunday
morning and evening, preaching to
good and appreciative congregations.
The attendance was unusually
large at the evening service, as both
the Baptist and Presbyterian tninis,ters
gave up their pulpits Sunday
night so that their congregations
might unite in extending a cordial
welcome to the new pastor by their
presence at the Methodist church.
Mr Phillips thanked the large congregation
for their presence and interest,
and stated that for the next
year,at lea^t.he expected to be with
us and hoped to be one of us; he
also expressed an earnest desire and
willingness to take part in anything
i tending to the moraland spiritual up|
lift of the community and to affiliate
i heartily with the other denomina'
tions in all religious work. His ser
! mon was an excellent discourse and
I made a marked impression upon his
1 hearers.
