The town council has put in a brick and concrete bridge across the canal for the convenience of the denizens of Nelson's Addition. This is a long-needed improvement. Miss Martha Gordon, who is taking a course in nursing at the Roper hospital in Charleston, spent the first part of the week here with her parents, Mr and Mrs A M Gordon. Mr C W Adams of Cades R F D 1, one of the most successful corn raisers in his section, was a visitor in Kingstree Monday and called to talk with his old friend. Editor Wolfe, who, we regret to state, is still indisposed and confined to his ' home. j Mr R F Brown, a genial gentle! man from the Leo section, was a pleasant caller at our office Monday while in Kingstree on business. He is one of the few men in his section who voted against being cut off from old Williamsburg county, and , says he still likes to hear what is going on here. Many of our citizens were surprised on coming out of their slumbers this morning to discover the housetops covered with snow. There was very little on the ground, as it was too dry and warm to retain it. At 9:30 rain started to fall, which later turned into a mild snow storm. It ' is said to be unusually" early in this section for snow. Magistrate G W Davis wishes us to state that he is enforcing the law with regard to the burying of all animals or fowls which die from disease in his vicinity in so far as such cases a Krmicrhf fr? his knowledge. Mr J J Brown has just returned from a trip to the lower part of the county and to Williamsburg, where he has farming interests. He says that the new railroad in that part of the country is making a revolution. It seems to make people stir more lively just to hear the whistle. The bridge across Pee Dee river will be completed, it is understood, by Deceberand the trains will run through from Hamlet to Georgetown. He is delighted with the signs of progress to be seen around Poston, Hemingingway and other points on the road and hopes that it will not 'be long before the line from Florence is complete to Georgetown.?Florence Times. The Asylum bond issue for one million dollars failed to pass, although the proposition received a majority of 996 votes, the official count showing 16,827 votes for the bonds to 15,831 against the bond issue. Williamsburg county voted 91 for and 414 against the proposition,or nearly five to one in opposition to the bonds. The joint resolution submitting the question to the people provides for a two-thirds majority in order that the measure shall be carried, whereas the resolution carried a bare majority of 1 the votes cast. i SPECIAL NOTICES!
