JEHOVAH't SUFFERING 8ERVANT
Isaiah 53:1-12 "JebovaH

IN this Htudy we hare a Divinely
drawn portrait of the experiences
which God tore-ordained
shook" come npon the One whom
Be has proulsed shall ultimately be
the great Messiah of glory who will
sx< the nation of Israel and through
it pour blessings upon all the families
af the earth. Tbos It to written, "In
thy Seed shill all the families of the
itrth be btetnsd." Much of the propbsey
of this study baa already been fulIIled,
bat not all of tt-4he glorious
features are yet to come, and we believe
are nigh, even at the door.
These prophecies were written nearly
even hundred years before ear Christian
Era. Tlney bad their most striking

ed Him through
evil report and good report; they have
Buffered with Him, and the reproaches
of those wh) reproached Him have
fallen npon them; and when the hour
of glorious revelation, the Kingdom
power, shall come, these will be with
their Redeemer and share His throne
and glory, and, as His Bride, share His
name. "This is the name whereby she
shall be called. Our righteousness of
Jehovah,"?Jer. 23.-6; 33:16.
The key to tbe understanding of the
long delay In :be establishment of Messiah's
Kingdom is fonnd In tbe fact
that tbe Cburcb Is a very part of Him,
members of H Is Body. Had it not been
the Divine Intention to gather tin
"elect" few from Israel and from all
nations to bo tbe Bride of Messiah,
and a sharer in His Kingdom, there
would have been no need of tbe long
delay between tbe sufferings of JeeiiS
and tbe outpouring of the glorious
blessings which His death secures.
Again it must be remembered that
the elect Church is wholly different
from tbe nominal cburcb. as represeuted
in its various systems. The
true Church of God consists only of
the saintly few who may be found inside
and ontslde of all denominations
of Christendom. "Gather My sain'*
together unto Me, thoae who have
made a covenant with Me by sacrifice"
(Psa. M:6.)
There are two reasons why tie
world and Its great ones will be astonished
when the Mediatorial Kingdom
shall suddenly burst upon the
world. Tbey have heard each chimerical
and unreasonable statements respecting
Met slab's Kingdom, even
from tbe people of God, that tney wiu
be taken completely by surprise wben
they shall behold the reality. <
Wben it sball be ushered in. following
a great social revolution, it jrill
be so much more majestically grand
tban anything dreamed of that every
mouth shall ve stopped and, as the
Lord through the Prophet declared,
that Kingdom of Messiah shall be the
"desire of all nations."?Hag. 2:6, 7.

WILSON WILL HAVE

TWELVE THOUSAND PLACES,
AGGREGATING $80,000,000 ANNUALLY.
FOR DEMOCRATS.
Washington, November 19:?Upwards
of eighty millions of dollars
will be the money value of the patronage
that will be at the disposal 1
of President-elect Wilson when he
comes into the White House. This
represents an army of office seekers
that|will aggregate about 12,000.
These^two facts more than any one
other thing indicates the terrific
pressure that will be brought te
bear upon the White House and the
unceasing hours of toil and labor
thatlare before the new Chief Executive
without regard to questions

The offices named in the accompanying
table are not protected by
the civirservice. They are at the
bestowal of the President and the t ,
demand for their immediate transfer
from Republican aspirants may ,
be insistent. By a stroke of the
pen many more could be removed
from the shelter of the Civil Service. '
President McKinley, who succeeded
Cleveland, found so many Re,
publicans clamoring for the office?
from which for four years they had
been ejected, that he made many
exceptions and in great measure
under pressure, negatived the force
of the Civil Service law. When
Cleveland succeeded Harrison he
went to the other extreme and de
clined to violate either the letter or
I spirit
of that law, and but few Democratic
officials were appointed except
administrative heads whfr were
responsible either as chief or subordinate
officials for the policy of the \
administration. How Mr. Wilson
will act on the return to power .of
his party and the long absence from
the public crib is a question that remains
to be answered.
