UNION fllGB SCHOOL. *
-? ?? ?
Rome, November 18:?The Francis
Marion Literary society has beKun
one of the most interesting ses
sions in its history. Although many
of the leading members are no longer
with us, the new members of the
society are taking hold of the work
with such enthusiasm that much
good will be accomplished. The
new officers are as follows: President,
Willie Snow; vice president, i
Frank Barr; secretary, Leta Carraway;
treasurer, Walter Tart; first
censor, DuRant Rhem; second censor,Winfred
Godwin; literary editor,
Marie Eaddy.
Friday afternoon, after a most interesting
programme by the society
members, Rev L E Wiggins gave a
very interesting and instructive talk
on "The Holy Land". Mr Wiggins,
??X x 1 ? 4.U.
naving jusi reiurueu iruiu tuc jj-vij
Land, was prepared to give us a
most inspiring lecture. The society,
by a rising vote, passed a resolution
?f thanks to Mr Wiggins. The society,
was also visited by several other
friends.
The school has been getting the
benefit of the protracted meeting
that has been carried on at Union
ehurch for the past week. Much
good was done, for we feel sure that
the community and school as well
were benefited no little by this revival,
which was conducted by Rev
L Hi Wiggins. we ail were sorry to
see Mr Wiggins leave, but we know
that such a man as he is needed everywhere.
Prof Mason, of Clemson College,
has paid us one visit this_ term and
is coming again the last of November,
when the high school is to have
a butter contest. Preparations are
being made for the building of our
cow stables. We are expecting great
things from this dairying movement.

Irreverence and Profanity.
Editor County Record:?
irreverence seems to be growing ]
among the people, and especially 1
among the young. Time and again I
have 9een young people laugh and
talk in God's house while the services
were g oing on, and I have even
seen them reading a newspaper
while the minister was preaching.
Parents should teach their children t
from their earliest childhood to rev
{
erence their Creator, before Whom
the very angels veil their faces. *
They should be taught to remember ?
that when they go to church that
Christ Himself is present, for He 4
has promised to be in the midst
"when two or three are gathered in
His name."
People think that because they t
don't call God's name outright that
it does not matter* but there are \
some names which people call in a ]
light and laughing way and some - j
times in anger, such as the "Great (
I Am", "Blessed Redeemer", "Great
Goodness", and many other names
that are just as much profanity as a
direct use of God's name irreverently.
We should be very careful not
to fall into the habit of using God's
name in a light manner, as "habit is
second nature."
Jeremy Taylor says that "nothing
is a greater sacrilege than to prostitute
the great name of God to the
petulancy of an idle tongue. Of all
the habits in the world Drofanitv ,
has no place for use or profit anywhere."
"Thou shalt not take the c
name of the Lord thy God in vain, 1
for the Lord will not hold him guiltless
that taketh His name in vain." '

That's exactly the case with Dodlon's
Liver Tone. It is a pleasant.asting,
vegetable remedy for a slow

Jver Tone came on the market the
ale of calomel has gone 'way down.
The reason is simply this: Dodson's
Jver Tone is safe and harmless and
rua ran teed to be satisfactory?Calonel
is often uncertain, sometimes
