Monday, salesday, brought a big

the real estate offered for sale was
lively throughout. Our merchants,
too, did a brisk trade, especially
those who advertise in The Record.
Miss Kathryne Watson, music

We cannot publish a notice of a
hot supper or any other money-making
enterprise even when such notices
are contained in news letters.
Our rate for publishing any kind of
notice advertising an affair to raise
money for any purpose whatsoever
is one cent a word. If the notice
is worth the type-setting it is worth
paying for. This applies to all?we
play no favorites.
Through some error word has been
circulated among the citizens of
Kingstree that Mr H A Miller, proprietor
of the People's Market, is
charging 25 cents per pound for
pork. This is a false rumor, and naturally
militates against Mr Miller's

derstood that he has never charged
over 15c per pound for pork, which
is his present price.
When a free notice is requested
of us advertising a public meeting,
or anything for the public good, we
think, as a rule, one insertion ought
to be sufficient. If two or more insertions
are requested the notice
should be paid for. Don't ride a
I free horse to death. It costs money
to set type and our space is worth
something. After a notice of any
; kind is published one time it certain!
ly ceases to be news.

The best prices being paid for anj
one tract was that bought by W J
