KINGSTBEE?THE GATEWAY | 1U UmtKll-Ml 1. THURSDAY. SEP. 5.J Items From Andrews. Andrews, September 2:?Mr D B Young is visiting at his old home above Kingstree. We are sorry to report Mr P Young somewhat unwell at this time. I * Mr H Thomas lost by death, a son | some 15 or 16 years of age. The boy was taken ill and died in a few hours. Three negroes were sent to the r chaingang from this place on Monday,August 26,by Justice W S Camlin for trying to have a race riot on the place of G W Camlin near Earls. The main leader was found guilty | in three cases and got a fine of $100 j or 30 days in each case. The other two negroes got 60 and 30 days re spectively. Had it not been for the assistance of some white friends, Mr G W Camlin would have been killed by drunken negroes. This kind of conduct will hereafter move closer, j Mr M H Parsons, the deputy Sheriff, fa certainly played his part in this uprising and never stopped until he landed the three guilty ones on the gang and had all the rest willing to be quiet. This young man is without an equal as a deputy. Mr W S Camlin has been confined to his bed for a week with fever. The writer is sorry to hear of the j relapse of our esteemed editor. May | protection be thrown around this, sufferer and his loved ones by a Su- j preme Being who is more able to give and relieve in an hour of suffering. Mrs L Z King and two-year-old son, L Z, Jr, are spending some time with the family of their parents and |.granaparents, Mr ana Mrs w 5 Camlin, on Main street, West Andrews. MAKING PROTEST/: 1 SENATOR INTIMATES THAT GRATITUDE SHOULD HAVE KEPT HLM OUT OF RACE. Trenton, September 3:--Senator B K Tillman yesterday received by registered mail, notice from N B Dial of Laurens, that he had entered a protest with the State Democratic executive committee against Spnntnr Tillman hpinff declared the nominee of the party for the United States Senate. When asked if he had anything to say the Senator replied: "I am surprised Mr Dial shows so little appreciation and has so little comprehension of the ethics which obtain among gentleman. I have not spent a dollar in this election and have not paid out any money at all except the $250 assessed by the State Democratic executive committee. I do not know the exact grounds upon which Mr Dial and Mr Talbert are contesting my being declared the nominee, but presume it is on some flimsy technicality too ' trifling to be noticed by sensible men. I am now willing to let the people of South Carolina know what manner of man Mr Dial is. I have not made the facts known heretofore because I do not fight that way and' was willing to let the people of South Carolina judge us on our !' merits." h Senator Tillman then said he would 1 t show what manner of man Mr Dial J1 was. He cited some instances in which he had been of very material service to Mr Dial. "My friends who knew these 1 things have felt aggrieved that Mr Dial should have offered to oppose 1 me at all for the Senate," Senator Tillman continued. "The people have passed on that to my entire 1 satisfaction and I hope to his. But I do not appreciate and I do not un- ' derstand how a man knowing all these things as he does know them can stoop so low as to enter into a ( Official Vote of \ n u ?. * be .? Time has strengthened the evi| dence. Has proven the cure permanent. The testimony is from this locality The proof is convincing. F. W Vnorpl 401 Hamntnn Ave. Sumter, S Car, says: "For severai years I sufferer from pains through the small of my back' and whenever I stooped I was in misery. My back became very weak and several times I had to give up work. A physician treated me but his medicine brought : no relief and I then tried several well-known kidney remedies but was not helped. One day I read a statement in the local paper given oftt by a party who had used Doan's Kidney Pills and the remedy had acted so j beneficially in that case that I got a j supply. After using one box mv aches and pains disappeared and the contents of six boxes completely cured me." (Statement given February 8, 1908.) THE CURE LASTED On January 9, 1911, Mr Vogel said: "I take pleasure in confirming my former endorsement of Doan's Kidney Pills and making the fact known that they effected a permanent cure in my case.
