Hemingway Happenings.
( Ki-cviVwi too luto for la>t wvek' > l-SUv).
Hemingway, August 17: ? On
Thursday, August 15, the officers j
and stockholders of the Hank of I
Hemingway met in one of the rooms |
of \Y C Hemingway & Co for the j
purpose of opening up thesaid bank.;
The reason for using the store room |
is that the bank building is yet un- j
finished. The amount deposited was:
a neat little sum for a beginning.
On last Saturday, August 10, the!
negroes had a "scussion" from Johnsonville
to Georgetown. From the !
looks of the crowd when they came !
back, they must have had a jolly j
time. The streets were just crowd-j
ed and they showed the need for
public force to put them down, as a
good number of them were drunk
or playing oif.
Mr James Edward Lewis,manager j
of the sawmill and other machinery
for W C Hemingway & Co, of this ,
place, left the latter part of the week 1
to visit his mother at Timmonsville. j
Miss Marena Spring of Chapman .
and little Misses Lottie and May!
VValdron of Rhems have been spending
the week with Mr and Mrs S C j
Waldron and Misses Sallie and Kuth
Haselden of this place.
One day iast week quite a number j
of young g'rls of the small order!
borrowed a mule and wagon from a
"Rlease man" and went on a straw ,
ride through town yelling for Jones, i
The man from whom they borrowed
the "turnout" told them if they did !
not yell for Rlease next time, "thev j
could take up their straw and walk.** j
The farmers of this section seem t
to have gotten on very nicely gath-'
ering f 'dder this season.and already
Ma cotton picking task has begun.

UONT EXPERIMENT.
You Will Make no Mistake if You Follow
this Advice
Never neglect your kidneys.
If you have pain in your back,
urinary disorders, dizziness and nervousness,
it's time to act and no
time to experiment. These are common
symptoms of kidney trouble,
and you should seek a remedy which
is recommended for the kidneys.
Doan's Kidney Pills is the remedy
to use. It has cured many stubborn
cases in this vicinity.
Can Kingstree residents demand
further proof than the following
testimonial?
Mrs J H Williamson, lu4 K Front
St, Florence, S Car, says: "I am
uleased to reccommend Doan's Kid
ney Pills in return for the benetit
they brought me. For several
months I suffered with backaches,
headaches and dizzy spells and my
kidneys gave me lots of annoyance.
Doan's Kidney Pills did me a world
of good and I am now free from
pain, in fact I am enjoving good .
health."

We hope the friends of The Record,
when they come to town to do
their trailing,will patronize the business
houses that advertise in this
paper. Remember that without these
liberal merchants, bankers and other
enterprising business men, the price
of subscription would be at least ? '?
a year for such a paper as The Record.
You'll find, as a rule, that the
men who advertise are wide-awake
and on the alert and can give you
better bargains than those who d<
not ad.vrtise. This applies not only
to Kingstreo. but mars iiv and upto-date
btisira men of La'....-Pity.
