VICTIM DEAD, SLAYER GONE.
Another Tragedy at Olar, White
Men Being Principals.
Bamberg,.!illy 24:?Coroner Zeigler
has just returned from Olar, in!
:his countv, where he went to hold
m inquest over the dead Itody of
Lennie Reed, a young white man,;
tvho was shot at that place hyl
Mafter Morris, also white, on last,
Wednesday morning. He died yes-j
lerdav, and was buried at the Bap-,
:is church cemetery at Olar today.
Little evidence was brought out'
it the inquest lieyond the fact that1
? i. i . * n it!
Keeil was sn?>t ana laiany wounueu ,
)v Morris. The cause of tlv difficulty
seems to *' a mystery ami by
some the act is thought to be al-;
ilost* wholly without provocation.
.Morris has left for part- unknown
md unless he concludes to surrcnd r
his arrest is thought to be unikely
in the near future.
The usual verdict was rendered
?y the coroner's jury and warrant
or the arrest of Morris was placed
n the hands of the magistrate at
)lar.
The coroner reports that inclining
the three negroes, who were
ynched near Olar a few weeks ago,
hat section of the county has the
menviable distinction of nine homiides
to its credit (or discredit)
ince the Christinas holidays began.
)f the victims six were colored and
hree white.
Another unusual and interesting
act related by him is that in the
baptist Church cemetery at Olar,
vliich was established alniut eighteen
-ear? ago, are to In? found the graves
>f nine white men who met death
it the hands of their fellow men.
