* Death ol a Child.
^ This community was saddened by
the announcement at 6 o'clock this
j morning of the death of little Evelyn
Mai, daughter of Mr and Mrs
P H Stoll. The little one had been
k sick since Sunday, but was not

when its condition grew
\ worse, and Mr Stoll, who was at3
tending court at Manning, was
i wired for. Cholera infantum was
the immediate cause of death.
1 This sweet little child was the
. pride and joy of its parents and dei
voted relatives, to whom we join

our profound sympathies.

Shooting Affair Tuesday.
Tuesday afternoon about 3 o'clock
while the citizens of Kingstree were
1 congratulating themselves over the
1 peace and good order which had
J prevailed in their midst throughout

j aroused by the shooting of Mr W B
| Staunton in the rear of Mi.hous&
Jennings' store on Main street, near
t the depot, in which Messrs J E
Pierce and Fred Hodge were said to
i be implicated. He was shot by Mr
Pierce who is a fairly well-to-do
; farmer lesiding near Kingstree, 65
years old, and a first cousin of Mr
j Staunton.
It appears that the three men had
been together a good deal during
, the day and in a spirit of good nature
indulged in joking and guying
each other over political matters.
. This they were doing when the
shooting took place, as above stated.
The three men had gone to the

To Ibe Tobacco Growers:
We take this method of letting
you know where we will be located
this season. We have leased the
Nelson Warehouse,next to the Farmers'
Supply Co. It is the best located
warehouse in town, well lighted and
equipped with the very best N K
Fairbanks scales that can be bought,
i therefore we guarantee you correct
weight and assure you as much for
1 your tobacco as any market in the
| State.
i We make you this proposition: If,
j after you have sold a load of tobac;
co at our house you feel that we
| have not treated you fairly in every
j respect, we will pay your railroad
fare to any market in the State,
where you can compare prices, and
if you find that you can do better,
pay us for the hogshead and we will
| head it up and deli ver it to the de:
pot for you, to be resold.
We extend thanks to our former
| customers for their liberal patronj
age in the past, especially last sea'
son, when there were three warehouses
operated here and about
750,000 pounds of tobacco sold, of
which we handled a little over 600,000
pounds. This fact assures us
that our efforts to give our patrons
a square deal were appreciated.
We never attempt to speculate on
I a customer's tobacco, but use our
best efforts to secure for him the
very top price on every pile of to!

Don't forget the place, and be

We will have Mr Richmond, the
