County Auditor Horace L Darr, of this; county, states tnat mere are i eleven banks in this county, which ; include Scranton and Lake City,which i territory has recently been annexed j to Florence county from Williama- j burg and they pay taxes to the State and county on $270,992. He also gives out the income taxpayers; of this county, a total of eleven, as follows: Willcox & Willcox, Florence, $13,520.64; John McSween, Timmonsville, $7,685; John Kuker, Florence, $5,300; John L Barringer, Florence, $3,800; J Williard Ragsdale, Florence, $3,500; J C Lynch, Cowards, $2,500; Duncan McKenzie, Timmonsville, $3,500; W H Keith, Timmonsville, $2,500; F U Lake, Florence, $417.50; E F Douglas, Florence, $2,326; C T Hall, Lake City, $1,036. Total. $47,071.14. The tax due the State and county on the above $47,091.14 amounts to $548.60. The income tax for the last year was $400.11, showing an increase this year of $148.46. Mr Darr has had a difficult job this year gett;ng his books closed up on acc junt of the fact that two slices of Williamsburg county were added to this and he had to make a number of trips to Kingstree and Williamsburg county to get the requisite data for getting his accounts in ehane: hence the delay.?
