entered the corn contest have been
heard from. Saturday,November 25.
at.11:30 a. m., is the time appointed
for the exhibit and awarding of
prizes at the court house in Kings- ?(
tree. On that day Messrs C B '
Haddon and L L Baker, of the Farm
Demonstration work, will both be
here to speak to the men and boys, i
Let every boy who raised a crop of
corn bring his best ten ears,whether
he measured his corn or not. And, j
boys, don't delay, but send in your,(
crop at once to me. Prizes will be!
announced in' next week's paper.
All who are interested in this
great work of the Agricultural j *
Department are invited to join the (
boys at the exhibit.

at the fair, one for a piece of fancy ,
work, one for a painting and one
for a dish of "cheese straws." ,
The body of Mr Julian Tanner,
who died in an infirmary at Florence, (
was brought here Thursday afternoon
of last week. From here the
body was taken to his home for
burial.
The town council has ordered an
election on the question of surrendering
the old charter and becoming ,
chartered lender a new charter. This ,
change has become permissible on 1
account of the fact that the popula- 1
tion of Lake City now exceeds a j
thousand. The charter under which
we have been living for so long is |
the village charter granted back in ]
tjie seventies. The election will be on
November 29.

from Florence Sunday and spent the
day at home.

The meeting was zalled to order by

Mr Swittenberg nade the motion

notions were unanimously carried.
Mr McCullough appointed a comnittee
on programmes, as follows:

larper and Miss Susan Gourdin.
Suggestions of topics for discusion
at the next meeting were then
n order and the two following were
hosen: "Management of Rural
Schools", and "How to Treat the
backward Pupil". The first subject
rill be opened for discussion by Miss
Jusan Gourdin, the second by Miss
Vlma Davis.
There were twenty-five teachers
)resent, and nineteen joined the association.
The second Saturday of each
nonth was decided upon as the best
